The room was cute, spacious and unique. Don't plan yo get good sleep. There is a noise machine and earplugs provided, I knew we were in trouble when I saw these at the nightstand. There's a canteen above the rooms, very noisy and noise from other rooms travel through the large vent. I understand there's foot traffic during the day, but there is someone that works in the canteen that wears heels or boots, and you hear them nonstop for hours at night and early in the morning. If you know it's noisy, maybe have consideration that there's people sleeping. Pros, it's affordable, good location and great customer service too. They're a small parking section, but you might not find parking due to this being used for the canteen as well. Reply to the hotel. The canteen closes at 10pm, but the workers are there for an additional 2hrs cleaning up. You hear them drag the tables and chairs. Early before opening, you hear them setting up, etc. I'm writing an honest review, because this might help someone prepare themselves to have interrupted sleep

We slept for one night in the Sunset room. The hotel is in a central location within walking distance of restaurants, the beach or anything else, so position 5 without a doubt. The rooms have an original style, attention to detail and spotless but in our case: the room was given for 6 people but the "full bed" was smaller than a queen, suitable for children but an average tall person must sleep diagonally. The only window was at the end of the room, in the raised part where the bathroom area was and looked out onto the street at the height of the cars' wheels. We arrived at night and left in the morning but I think a guest planning a longer stay would be interested in this aspect, in fact the room has no sunlight and it is not conceivable to open the window. Being on the ground floor you could hear all the noises from the upper floor. Another negative opinion on the service, it should be specified in the description that the hotel does not have a car park (there are few places but first come first serve and they are also used by the restaurant), it does not have a reception or staff. We discovered this from an email that arrived when the room could no longer be cancelled. The email said that we would receive the access codes two days before arrival and there was an obligation to check remotely one day before. Not having received the codes, I wrote two emails to the hotel's official address, two SMS response messages asking to respond with any questions and 2 messages via the booking site...no response. In the meantime, the check in arrived and at the end of the procedure it said to use the codes already received for access. The codes arrived after check in with the email explaining the non-existence of parking and attaching a map of where you can and cannot park along the street. No one ever responded to my emails or messages, not even to ask if I had finally received them (after 6 reminders). We received a text message on the day of arrival informing us that the reception closed at 5pm (again without any reference to my numerous requests for codes). On the day of departure at 11am we tried to knock on the office several times but with no response, we needed to ask something but we gave up. Luckily everything worked but if I had known that the hotel had these characteristics I would have opted for another structure. Personally I think it is unacceptable that the hotel does not make it clear that it is contact free with remote check-in, even more so considering access via code, no one responds to a foreign customer who complains of not having received the codes with the risk of him arriving and not being able to enter. The hotel's official website has an email and no one responded to two reminders.

It's hard to argue that this isn't one of my favorite boutique hotels in San Clemente. I can go to my favorite restaurant and coffee (Nomads and Sur Coffee) in about 30 seconds and enjoy the rest of what downtown San Clemente has to offer with a one block walk to Del Mar.

Great experience, location, and the room were equally great. Very simple, quaint and for the price it is a great deal!!

Great stay for a date weekend with my wife! We love the spacious room and lay out. So unique and fun! The rooms were super clean and service was excellent! Only thing is it does get noisy at night until the canteen closes upstairs at around 12 pm for the weekend. BUT they give you ear plugs and each room had a noise machine so getting to sleep was just fine. We will so come back!

Thanks for the honest review, Jacqueline. We really appreciate it. Without honest reviews, we cannot improve our guest experience. I would like to provide some extra information here, as some of the things in your review may not be 100% clear to our readers. Our hotel is a fun and lively place located in the heart of Downtown San Clemente, walking distance to restaurants, bars, shopping and the beach. We aren't the most quiet place in town, but that is partly due to our location. As you can see from out previous reviews, most guests who stay with us really enjoy the hotel, despite some foot traffic and restaurant noise from Nomads Canteen. The Canteen hours are normally 11:30am to around 10pm, so you will only hear the restaurant around those times. I would disagree with "early in the morning and hours at night", but that really depends on the person. Also, I would like to add that the Canteen is one of San Clemente's most popular local spot and the food is AMAZING! Most of guests love the Canteen so much and the free drinks that come with their stay, they excuse a little foot foot traffic and a chair moving here and there. Regarding noise from room to room, that is very rare. In any hotel you may occasionally have inconsiderate neighbors, but this is not an issue we have regularly. Again, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are always trying to improve and reviews like your really help! Safe travels, -The Nomads
