I liked having wonderful neighbors like the LaRussos. Also enjoyed having Mr Miyagi as a handyman - he did an amazing job restoring my classic car.

The Karate Kid is one of my favorite movies of all-time! This has been at the top of my list for filming location spots since I figured out exactly where the filming location was! I went with expectations of getting the exterior only but met one of the residents who was beyond accommodating and knowledgeable! He has resided there for close to 15 years and is a lover of the movie as well. He opened up the gate and showed us around, including the original LaRusso apartment! What I found awesome was there were kids clothes hanging out on the banister which shows 40 years later there is still a single mom living there with here kid! The pool wasnt disgusting and other than a few modifications to the spot it still looked like it did 40 years ago! Which is insane! I quietly took my pictures as fast as I could and left! Thanked the resident and went to a few other areas that he suggested! Apartment looks the same, parking area where the Mr. Miyagi workshop was constructed is just a place for the residents of the South Seas to park their cars, the empty field where the Cobra Kais beat up Daniel and then took a butt whooping from Miyagi is no longer an open field. There are now tons of houses there and no gate or dumpster but the mystique is still there! It was a huge dream of mine to go there and I will pack that away as one of my favorite moments as this was an amazing movie which had a very important impact on my life!
