OK...I'll be the first to review. We LOVE living at the Mayfair! By far the best apartment experience I've had in my 10 years of renting in the Bay Area. They are pet friendly and didn't put a weight restriction on my dog like most so-called pet friendly buildings in Oakland. The manager, Lila, is great! Very responsive if you have any problems/concerns. If your sink gets clogged on Monday, she'll have someone there on Tuesday to get it fixed. PLUS, my dog thinks she's fab because she keeps dog cookies in the office!Another bonus is that the building has steam heat for those chilly winter nights and solar panels to run all our fans on the hot summer days. All utilities are included in the rent! Very convenient to only write one check each month...It's in a decent neighborhood, walking distance to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's is do-able too. Lots of good restaurants nearby and you can hit up a movie at the Grand Lake Theater with out losing your precious parking space! Oh...that's the one downfall of living here...THE PARKING SUCKS! But it's not the Mayfair's fault. We knew when we moved here it would be difficult but there is a garage if you can make it to the top of the wait list.All-in-all, after 2 years of living here, we are very happy and feel like we will be here for a good long while!

I just moved out of this building, and I had to come leave a review.  The building manager at this place is the best I've ever had.  She's wonderful.  Always willing to help and listen, and if there's ever a problem, she makes sure it gets taken care of as soon as possible.  There is VERY limited parking in this building, so if you do move in there, even if you don't have a car but are planning on getting one in the near future, get on the waiting list for parking.  Otherwise, you're left to street parking, which is hard to come by, and you have to contend with street sweeping.I would have preferred better laundry facilities, but they're not bad, and the building is gorgeous.  It's a 1920s building for bachelors, complete with shoe portals for the maid to pick up your shoes to shine (no longer in use). It's a secure building, blocks from Lake Merritt, the casual SF carpool meets at the Valero station just down the street, BART is just around the lake, and the NL bus line will also get you to SF from just down at Grand Ave.  Nice spot for an SF commuter without a car.  Overall, I will miss this building.
