Uli crushed it, what an amazing coach. my wife and I have traveled the country and probably been to 50 different locations... Alamitos Bay is top tier in their environment, coaching, cleanliness and location. on Thanksgiving, Uli pushed us to our limits so that I could demolish an entire pumpkin pie to myself later in the day!

Argumentative, Disrespectful, and Prejudice.Today i was visiting this F45 Alamitos from out of town, and am VERY familiar with the F45 experience.  I have hundreds of workouts logged in my F45 Lion heart, and consider myself advanced level.I decided to do a Saturday morning 'NOHO' workout here, and even registered the night before.  I also registered my Lionheart heart rate monitor to this studio, so the instructors could see my heart rate, to give me feedback. I was excited when i walked in to start the workout.i was 7 minutes late, which is uncharacteristic of me, and missed the intro/warm-up, which i didn't consider an issue, b/c i've done the exact same workout several times.Within a few seconds, a young man/coach explained i needed to do 2 minutes of warm-ups before engaging in the workout, which i was happy to do.  I started doing "A Steps" and alternated between those, burpees, and inchworms.  As i was warming-up, i felt glaring looks by other staff members, and shortly thereafter, the coach came up to me asking  if i registered, and i answered "yes"; i even had the email to prove i was registered. He told me he couldn't find me in the system, and then told me he couldn't let me work out b/c i he didn't have a waiver for me.  I explained that i signed the waiver, and even had the email showing that.  I even told him i was happy to sign another waiver.  Then he said i couldn't work out b/c i wasn't present for the introduction. I explained how experienced and seasoned i was with F45, had hundreds of records to prove my experience.  Not that he cared, as most of the patrons working out (myself included) were obviously in better shape than he and the manager--who he signaled to come talk to me, when he saw the futility of his argument.   When the manager came up to me, she tried to discourage me from working out, and basically reiterated what her staff said.  I politely explained to her what i explained to her staff, but she said it didn't matter, and that their 'policy' is that no one can work out here if they miss the intro. I told her i've done the NOHO workout so many times.  She continued to argue with me about their policy, and i simply asked her what could i do to join the workout.  She did not encourage me to come back to workout a different day/time. When i pointed out the inconsistencies in the "reasons" for not allowing me to workout, and how i felt wrongfully discriminated, and mentioned a Yelp review, her mouth started quivering, and accused me of threatening her.

I don't know what's best about F45 Training Alamitos Bay: the workout, the coaches, the other people who train with you, the owners... well, I guess I don't have to pick just one, so I won't!The workout literally changes every day, so you're never bored with repetition & you're not working the same body parts day after day. And even though each day of the week has its own format, the exercises on that day are different than the previous one of the same format.Plus, classes are only 45 minutes (1 hour on Saturdays) & I basically burn the same amount of calories that I did when I was working out at a studio where classes are an hour!!! So THAT'S a bonus!!!I also prefer to train cardio & strength separately, so if you like that format too, F45 is absolutely perfect for you! However, Fridays and Saturdays are hybrid so you DO get days where you work with both cardio AND weights, if that's your preference. And, you work at your own level! It's not like HIIT where you're competing against others in the class - this is more like you're competing with yourself! Which leads to the coaches The coaches at this studio are ridiculously knowledgeable, helpful, extraordinarily supportive, and just all-around nice! At the beginning of class the coach (sometimes coachES) goes through each exercise you're going to do & explains how to get the most out of it, as well as how to perform the exercise to avoid injuries. The classes are not crazy full so the coach is able to walk around to each person training to make sure we're focusing on the body part the specific exercise is targeting & also to ensure we have correct form to help prevent injuries (and also to help those of us who are obsessed with getting the absolute most out of an exercise)! Lol But they also challenge you, because they get to know what you can handle which is perfect for those of us who want to max out our potential and don't realize we're currently not!  And if you have a stated goal, these coaches help with that! But I would be remiss if I didn't mention the other people who train with you! Everyone is there with the same goal of bettering themselves, but it never feels like it's in a competitive way with others, only supportive! You get to know the members working out & it becomes a friendly, motivating group of people! Sometimes the coaches have you work a station individually but often there may be 2 (or max 3) people at a station, so you may get to be friends with someone you didn't know or train with someone you did. Either way, it makes working out even better when you walk in to the studio & people say "hi" to you & you them ... instead of everyone keeping to themselves and ignoring everyone else...kind of assists in getting you to the gym if you like the people working out and they like you. But also, there's no pressure - if you prefer to go to the gym and not socialize before or after class but just focus on yourself, it's no problem- many people do! Finally, the owners! Josh & Suzy are AMAZING! One or both of them are very often at the studio and available to talk to about mostly anything! Their knowledge on training, nutrition, and helping guide you if you have specific goals (btw the coaches do, as well) is obviously solid, as you'll sometimes even find them working out in class with you! They plan fun events to get the "family" (of worker-outers) together outside the studio: beach workouts, Angles/Ducks games, pub run (you know, go for a jog from bar to bar), flag football day, they even got a team together for one of the Long Beach marathon/half marathon runs. They sometimes have yoga in the studio, sometimes a DJ mixing the workout music during class. You just never know what's going to be offered by these two! You definitely should go by & check it out! But don't freak if it looks like a mish mash of craziness lol - all the equipment/exercises occur throughout the studio and everyone is pretty much working out at a different station and then moving to the next station through the entire 45 minute class (1 hour on Saturdays), so it's very coordinated even though it might appear wacky!Definitely give it try though: I truly believe you'll love it!
