Dr. Scott Martin gave me a trigger point injection in my right knee that already had a total replacement and he gave me an infection that lasted 2 years. He's rude too. When I tried to make an appt he refused to see me or even talk to me. He then sent me bills for over 4 years that I refused to pay. People: DON'T USE HIM !!! He's only in it for the money. I give him NEGATIVE STARS.  I still have a scar.

Would put no stars if I could. This guy sucks. He acted like he was the shit and dressed like Ace Ventura. I had two knee surgeries, one tore ACL and meniscus and then the other I tore my meniscus again. He doesn't even look at my recent surgeries... All he says is "you need to stretch more and I'm not going to give you pain pills" I'm like wtf? And then he asked me to call my dad so he can talk to him about my knee? I'm not 12. You don't need to be calling my dad. This dude is horrible!

I totally agree with the other reviewers on this site as well as other medical sites that past patients have rated Dr Scott Martin poorly. He is only out for the money and NOT concerned for the patients well being. In my case and experience from the beginning I was previously diagnosed with a crushed spinal cord in my neck c4-c7 and was in unbelievable pain and needed surgery badly. So I was sent to Dr Martin. I was first treated like I was invisible by the front desk, one or two of the office support very helpful but most adapted the Dr's attitude and unsupportive mannerisms.  If you don't have cash with you, they will turn you away no matter how bad the pain. Then you get into a room where he might come in or he might not, and if he did come in he wrote prescriptions without looking or talking to you, and when you asked he stood at the door with his hand on the door knob if you didn't understand what or how he answered your questions HE WAS GONE... never to be seen again.  He promised to rotate the drugs as for me not to become immune to the drug's effects but never did after the first time. He only wanted to get my money and get me out of his office. And when I gave him critical paperwork for me to receive my disability, he lost it or told me it would be at the front desk in a week or two, when I went in it wasn't filled out and after weeks and months went by and the Social Security board was asking me where my paper work was, they were wondering why MY DOCTOR wasn't supporting me. Funny because of that I lost everything and when I was down as far as you could get in life barely hanging on, he told me he was dropping me as a patient , he referred to me as trash to my face. OK I wasn't able to pay because he wouldn't fill the paperwork out! So inadvertently he dropped me a month away from my next refill without any reference to another doctor, dependant on the drugs HE subscribed, accusing me of living high and mighty with two blonds with me, Yeah, my wife and her twin sister, and her baby. BY THE WAY, NONE OF HIS FRICKING BUSINESS. I was devastated. I really thought this Dr somewhat cared for me and my situation. Instead, he brought me back in a room and told me he was cleaning house of all of his trash patients. I was down and out and ready to give up when a Dr friend referred me to a solid pain specialist, he filled the proper paperwork out and I had my disability and insurance to cover the office visits within months. I agree with the other reviewers, he shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine! I was told by my neighbor who works for a big drug company that he was flaky but was willing to give him a chance. Stay away from this carless prick and his rude unconcerned office support.

Very bad experience. I was referred to Dr. Martin by Anthem Blue Cross.  Dr. Martin was not accepting new patients, so Sharon, the receptionist, scheduled me with a Newport pain mgmt doctor, who was taking over Dr. Martin's Aliso Viejo patients: Dr. John Michels. The office staff did NOT consider or inform me before my visit of the following: 1.  Dr. Michels does not do procedures locally near Aliso Viejo regularly (one must go to his Newport Beach surgery center). If I wanted to go to his "rarely-used"  Laguna Hills surgery center, I would have had to wait over 4 weeks, according to Lisa, his procedure scheduler (Dec. 19) (My initial appointment was Nov. 17; how am I supposed to bear severe pain for over a month???)2.  Dr. Michels uses a surgery center that is NOT in my Anthem BC EPO network, so I could not even get the facet block and ablation that Dr. Michels recommended.3.  Dr. Michels told me at the time of my initial consultation that I could have the procedure the following Wednesday--Wed. before Thanksgiving--and that his very capable associate, Dr. Richard Paicius, would most likely be doing the procedure.  That was fine, so I cleared my schedule (5 appointments) for that Wed.--a major loss of income for me.  Tracy, Dr, Michels' office manager, informed me on Nov. 20 that Dr. Michels would never have told me I would be having the procedure that Wed. which was infuriating--like calling me a liar!  She was not in the exam room with us, so she would not know what was discussed!  Since I would not be able to undergo the treatment (necessary injections) that Dr. Michels wanted to do and should never have been scheduled with Dr. Michels to begin with, I asked Tracy to waive my 20% co-pay, and she refused!  Now I have to start all over again to find a pain mgmt. doctor, wait for records to be sent, have an exam and pay another high, initial visit co-pay--all because of a lack of proper decision-making and knowledge about my insurance from the start.  I hope this does not happen to others.  My advice is to ensure that your insurance covers both the doctor AND surgery center before making the appointment--and that you will not have to wait over a month for a diagnostic injection.Pain management doctors give injections; so if they are Anthem BC doctors but don't use Anthem BC facilities, it's pointless for them to see Anthem BC patients!  It is a waste of those patients' precious time and money.I am beside myself with frustration.  I should add that my appointment was at 10 a.m., but Dr. MIchels did not see me until 11:15. When I brought this to the Aliso Viejo office manager's attention (Jody), she was defensive, rude, and unapologetic.  No warmth. Way to scare patients away!I also tried to get help in the matter from Dr. Scott Martin and telephoned him on a phone number given on the recorded greeting.  I was agitated while explaining what was going on with having been scheduled with an associate who could not perform procedures in an Anthem-contracted facility, but in no way hostile or verbally abusive, and I certainly never raised my voice.  Yet Dr. Martin twice said I was "yelling" at him!!!  Not only that, he claimed to have received death threats from patients, which seemed very strange to me.  Yelling!  LOL.  I am sure if I had actually been yelling, he would have just hung up.  Frustrated, yes, and desperate, yes...This is CLEARLY not a man who can empathize with patient dilemmas.Almost everyone I dealt with in this conflict at both offices, Newport and Aliso, , including Jody in the Aliso office, Tracy in Newport, and Dr. Martin, himself, were unwilling to empathize, rude, unapologetic, and accusatory.  NOT RECOMMENDED.  STAY AWAY!!!
