The Happy Camp Post Office is a community gathering place where you're very likely to see friends and other people you know when you go get your mail after 4pm. There is a long-time joke about the "Happy Camp Traffic Jam" being in the parking lot of the post office at 4 ... a lot of people go there at mail delivery time. Another long-time joke was that if your photo isn't posted on the door, you're still alive. During the time I lived in Happy Camp (2000-2013) there were many, many flyers posted there to inform people about who died and when the memorial services would be. Just before I left town the staff decided to move those indoors. When I got to Happy Camp in 2000, the only Bigfoot statue in town was the one in front of the Post Office. Now there are more.
