Macula & Retina Institute

I had great medical care with Dr Kent Small.  Unfortunately, his office and billing staff has been atrocious and negate all of his great care.Most recently, a series of billing errors resulted in incorrectly reporting  to a collections agency and my credit score dropped by 30+ points.  I saw Dr Small annually and his office actually owed me money at the same time the error was made.  First they tried to insist this was my fault and then they provided little help to get this matter resolved or get the negative credit item removed.  Basically they couldn't care less even though I have been a patient for over 5 years.  I asked for Dr Small to return my call on two occasions to discuss this matter and he never did.  I have taken my business elsewhere.NOT RECOMMENDED!UPDATE: Small's team would not release my medical records to me without paying a $25 fee.  Very sad.

I went to see Dr. Small when I got a retinal hole. He was extremely sympathetic and helped me understand the different procedures that were available. The wait was not long at all and his staff made everything so simple. Thank you all for helping me during a hard time and I appreciate Dr. Small for being so professional and helpful. I recommend anyone with retinal issues to go see him!

I have been seeing Dr. Small for about five years now. I started going to his office when I was diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion. He was extremely helpful and patient with me. He explained my diagnosis and the treatment regimen. I still see him about once a month to this day. His staff is vibrant and always offering assistance. I highly recommend Dr. Small for any retinal issues. Thank you for everything Dr. Small!

Here is just a short list version why I gave 1 star:1. The doctor, Kent Small, diagnosed me with a serious irreversible disease which is his specialty. I, the patient, had to prove him wrong based on the very information that he had in my file plus a quick research on a couple of medical websites.2. His office is disorganized - it took an hour for them to locate my medical records while I was waiting in the exam room. 3. After weeks of trying to get a copy of my medical records from this office - I gave up. 4. He "strongly recommends" his patients iNutrients by Molecular Envision Inc. and his office sells them.A few facts:a). Molecular Envision Inc is his own company but you have to do your own on-line research to find out.b). He "strongly recommends" his vitamins as a preventive for Macula Degeneration but it is a known fact that  vitamins DO NOT prevent AMD. They might slow-down the progress of this decease in the beginning and intermediate stage - not prevent it!. Needless to say, I am not his patient anymore :).
