Beware of this company they will gain your trust have you put down a deposit then after the 3 days something will come up. Then will not refund deposit. They said send an email so I did. Curious if they will get back with me.

I had reached out to Closets by Design to design and build a reach in closet in the Master's bedroom and closet. During the consultation, I provided the designer - Cristina Gudiel with a shoe box from the Container Store with the measurements of 8-11/16'" width x 12-1/2" depth x 7-1/4" height. It was specific requirement that the shelving mirror those specs as my 400+ pair of shoes are currently housed in them. She informed me that this is something she can do. She drew out the diagram and informed that her hand hurt too much to complete the lines drawing out the space. (I have this all recorded as my house has cameras on every floor). When the installation team came, the measurements were off. The shelving was closer to purse shelving than shoe shelving. I called the office to be informed that "there's nothing I can do about it since payment was already made". I attempted to escalate the situation by calling the main line and be transferred to different individuals who informed me that only Cristina can fix the situation. Cristina informed me that shelving would be corrected and that the dividers would be put in. An installation manager name, Mike called me to inform me that the job was considered done (uncompleted) and that it's not really up to the designer. What upsets me is that both the designer and the installation manager refuse to be on a conference call with the other as I'm being provided conflicting information. After numerous calls back and forth, Cristina reassured me it would be corrected. Mike called me to confirm and stated that he would be coming out Thursday to correct and then he said the following Monday. Concerned that they were both lying to me, I called the Installation department to be told there was nothing scheduled for me. My closet would continue to be incomplete. I called Cristina to be informed by her that she has let Closets by Design and is now with Closet World and that Im essentially on my own that theres nothing she can do for me. It appears both websites, Closet World and Closets by Design are very similar. Hence, Im starting to believe this company is a scam. I reached out to numerous people within their organization on LinkedIn to be ignored. I would presume that an organization such as Closets by Design, where you have built a business model and franchised the model that this service and customer service is not how you've been able to grow. I oversee a private equity company and all of their portfolio companies. I would be livid if any of our employees and companies acted in such a manner. Hence my review is this: Dont bother with this company. Its all an expensive scam.

This experience is not what I expected from a reputable company. On July 26th I was scheduled for a closet install on August 30th. The morning of I reached out to my sales representative, Monica, to ask about the time in which I should expect installers. Mid day she responds sorry I didnt see this. She never responded to a later text I sent about the installers not showing up. The installer began texting me shortly after my text and continued throughout the pushing back the time. I called the office at 5:30pm to inquire and was told the installer would be at my house at 7:30pm. Given it was supposed to be a full day of work I asked how would he finish the job without wiring through the night or coming back the next day. Ive now been offered a date 2-3 days from now. Im preparing to travel and I work everyday. I called the corporate office listed in many of these reviews to be asked to explain my concerns, put on hold, and eventually disconnected. This has been the worse experience Ive had in awhile. If I find another solution, I plan to take it. I do not recommend Closet By Design. They are not communicative not do they problem solve or accommodate clients that they have inconvenienced. Service: Custom closet design & installation

The designer Do was not upfront about the installation timeline, designs and quality. He first told us 6-8 weeks but the actual installation happened after 3 months. We had ordered all 16 inches shelves and drawers but he modified himself by writing cryptic notes saying 12 and 16 inches and didnt specify the measurements of the shelves and drawers on the diagrams. The day before installation in Dec. we get a call saying the appointment is canceled. Then they come after a week and when they come they get wrong sizes of shelves (all 12 inches shelves instead of 16 inches) and only drawers 16 inches. When escalated to their District Manager Mike, he asks me arrogantly for addnl. $2200 for upgrade which was infact the default dimension specified to the designer. I refused to get the installation done that day and he threatened to confiscate the 50% advance stating customer canceled the order. Later after numerous escalation calls, their VP authorized all 16 inches shelves, but installation again delayed by another 3 weeks. Finally they installed the closets this week, but drawers are not soft close and they are asking addnl. Money for upgrade. The current drawers are wiggly and belong to an era when CRT TVs were in style. When I called them to complain, no one was available to respond and I didnt get a call back for 2 days. Finally when I called again, their Manager tells me that soft close drawers are also an upgrade and I need to pay addnl. $ for that. I was never told by the designer that soft close drawers arent the default drawers and that they still sell outdated products. Plus, the Manager had the arrogance to ask me if I need a chandelier too for free. I havent seen such an unprofessional company and pathetic customer service in my life. BEWARE and dont get fooled. Its a ripoff. Also, see the common response that they cant identify you as a customer when they get poor reviews. So now ideally I can dispute if they charge my credit card for the 50% balance as they dont find me in their customer database..lol Services: Cabinet design, Installation, Custom cabinet design & installation
