Visiting Beacon Veterinary Specialists was a critical step in saving my babys life. After some GI upset on Monday and subsequent lethargy and syncopal episodes, we made a trip to the experts at Beacon for an emergency visit. We initially went in with the fear of a potential neurological condition, as her fainting spells resembled what might look like a seizure. It was here that the emergency vet notified us that Moiras heart was arrhythmic, the normal lub-dub sound not present at the time of her consult. They performed rigorous testing of her blood and urine, and took several x-rays of her chest for any potential abnormalities that could be causing the arrhythmia. It was apparent on her ECG that her heartbeat was asynchronous, and they took every measure possible to find an emergency clinic with a cardiology team that could perform a consult. We were then referred to OakVet in Oakland, where their emergency and cardiology teams accommodated my sweet girl immediately. Without the critical and intermediary actions of Beacons expert care team, we might never have known what ailed my baby and how to help her survive it. My family and I are so incredibly grateful for their quick response and help in finding the best equipped care team for her. We couldnt have gotten her the help she needed without them!

Dr. Adamo ignored our pleas for help, refusing to get back to us regarding scheduling despite countless requests for a followup for a prior surgical patient of his. His scheduling team stonewalled us ad infinitum. Complete lack of compassion and empathy.

Of all vet places I have taken my pets over the years I wish I would have found this place years ago. This place is very accommodating. I recently had to euthanize my buddy/ family member of almost 16 year. Even though it was hard they were very helpful with the process. If I had to do it all over again I would do it here again. Thank you all for being very sensitive especially with family being there.

Do not ignore or disregard the negative reviews about this place- they are TRUE. Drive to MedVet or SAGE instead. This place is absolutely terrible & should be sued & shut down for patient negligence. I will be contacting the veterinary board & placing a formal complaint about this place and Dr. Bonny Murphy. Especially for her lack of urgency & care for sick pets that have been waiting for 12+ hours to be seen. Be honest & upfront about the wait so people can make an informed decision before checking in their pets here out of sheer desperation. Multiple vet techs had the opportunity to at least WARN us that it will be over 12+ hours wait after we checked in, but nahhhhh they just go about their day being busy medical professionals with no regard for the pet owner. After all, they work in a busy emergency room, which is an excellent excuse to get out of any accountability whatsoever. And boy, do they love relying on that excuse. I wish I had read all the bad reviews before coming here. Spare yourself the heartache & frustration of dealing with the receptionists, vet techs, and doctors here. A few vet techs were decent & kind, but still nobody communicates with anybody & they have no idea what is going on. Everything about dealing with these people here has been painful. I bawled my eyes out in my car twice from dealing with this place while waiting over 12+ hours for my cat to be seen. Their lack of empathy & accountability is appalling. I could have taken my cat somewhere else and been back home in the time we spent waiting, but no, they kept bread-crumbing us and lying about expectations about the wait. I have told several vets about how my cat and I were treated here and they were shocked as well. Pure negligence and lack of care for pets here. Prepare for excuses, defensiveness, & they just keep giving you that high-pitched but curt customer service tone of voice. They will do the absolute bare minimum, if even that. They dont care about pets here, and they definitely do not care about their humans. Prepare to wait 12+ hours especially if your pet is still breathing or considered stable. Like others have said below. They keep lying and lying, telling you their turn is next but it doesnt actually happen. They never follow through on what they say even about the smallest things. They never even call you to give you an update or anything about your pet. I have been nothing but respectful with these people. Never raised my voice. Never impolite. Every time I extended understanding for their shortcomings because theyre busy. And yet I am met with no accountability and further condescending tone of voice and denial from the employees here. Just take your pet somewhere else. Its not worth it. This place has made dealing with my cats condition so much more stressful than it needs to be. I cried when I finally got home with my cat - not because my cat is stick, but because of the absolute negligence and stress from dealing with the so-called specialists at this place. We got 10 minutes with the emergency room doctor at the end; and even then she walked out & didnt finish the conversation because one of the vet techs knocked ok the door and needed her. Thank you for traumatizing us & letting my cat spend a whole 14 hour day without a litter box, food, water, or fluids. Just because his vitals are fine doesnt mean you can neglect your sick patients who are waiting FOR OVER TWELVE HOURS. The least you can do is be honest & communicate that it will be a whole day before the pet will be seen by a doctor. This is the norm for this emergency room. My cat came back home from this place drenched in urine and absolutely terrified. He never pees on himself so we know its this place. They probably had waiting with dogs too so he was petrified. Hes been to other emergency rooms in the past and weve never seen him get this stressed and frazzled before. We paid $2000 for the absolute worse veterinary care we have ever witnessed. The California board will be hearing about this & formal complaints will be made, I promise.

I'm at Beacon now and I am so frustrated with these people. I've been here with my cat for almost two hours. I was told when I got here that the wait would be 2 to 4 hours because there are 4 unstable pets. After almost 2 hours of waiting, the nurse came in and informed me it would be 2 to 4 hours from now because they are going in to a procedure for a "blocked cat". I told the nurse my cat's problem is getting worse, he is very hot, and I let her know I am concerned he won't be alive by the time they see him. She told me that I am free to call around to other Vet emergency hospitals. She said there is one in San Jose and one in Dublin. Last time we were here, we waited for 6 hours! The doctor came in the room and was here for less than 10 minutes. That being said, it would be nice if they staffed this so called emergency vet with more than one doctor. After this visit I will NEVER come here again. NEVER!! This place is never staffed to address anything quickly. So now while the one doctor and all the nurses are in the "procedure" we have to listen to the front staff joking and laughing about whatever while we wait in agony!
