WARNING: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. OWNER IS A FRAUD AND WILL OVERCHARGE YOU AND PERFORM UNWARRANTED REPAIRS WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT!! I brought my car to Luxury Automotive to get a diagnostic done because it was not starting up intermittently. The owner of the garage Jacky quoted me $165 to do a diagnosis on my car and I agreed, signed the work order, and left my car with him. He then texts me the next day that he diagnosed my car and found the problem to be a faulty fuel pump and quoted me $1355 to replace it, a ridiculous amount but I agreed to have him proceed with the repairs anyways since I really needed my car. The next morning he calls to tell me the work is complete and the car is up and running and ready for pickup, i tell him I will have to pick it up tomorrow as I was already on my way to work. While at work, he begins to blow up my phone with texts, calls, and voicemails; saying he found "the main problem". Since I was busy at work I had only a few minutes to talk with him over the phone and he begins telling me that they found all sorts of fault codes on his diagnosis machine and sends me screenshots of the device and said codes, and that they swapped out an ECU from another car in their shop and did some other repairs as well. I tell him not to do any further work and that I only wanted a diagnosis. He says the repairs cost (including the fuel pump job) $4000 and that the car is ready for pickup. Then a couple hours later tells me that they found a leak in my fuel pump (but didn't you just replace my fuel pump!?) and that I need to fix that or they would not allow me to drive my car home due to insurance liability. When I finally go to pick up my car, it is completely unassembled and he tells me they swapped out my SAM unit and repaired/reprogrammed my Fusebox? He then quotes me $1400 for this work that I never approved and shows me the (tiny) leak in my fuel pump and says I must tow the car if I want to take it. Since I was running late for work I agreed to pay for the "work" but told him that I never approved any of this, and that I would be disputing the charge later. He also refused to return my "SAM unit" (the one he just happened to have on hand that he swapped from another vehicle) and told me he needs to send it in to Mercedes for a core fee refund. But didn't you say you just took it out of another customers vehicle?? He did not even give me a work order because his printer was "out of ink" and I never signed anything other than the credit card slip. After investigating into this guy, YONGJIAN LAN, I found that his business has an open lawsuit against them already for shady practices and that he is operating with an expired/terminated BAR license; plus he has changed his business name and hides his real name (refers to himself as Jacky, probably in an attempt to hide all this. After politely asking him to reverse the charge or I will report him and file a lawsuit against him, he replied with "Please go report" and nothing further. I hope he knows operating without a license in the state of CA is a CRIMINAL offense and could face jail time. I will be proceeding to report this scumbag to the BAR and BBB, as well as the local authorities and will be taking him to court, I'm looking forward to getting his shop shut down to prevent him from ripping anybody else off in the future. He gives mechanics everywhere a bad name and should be ashamed of himself and his actions.
