Busy Bee Family Daycare

Yuliana and Busy Bee Daycare have been such a blessing for us. Yuliana cares for our little girl like shes her own. She is always communicating with us and sending photos throughout the day. She looks after the kids with such patience. I love that they follow a schedule and there are so many opportunities for learning. Our daughter has been with Yuliana since she was 10 weeks old and she is now 8 months and is thriving! We have had such a positive experience here and I couldnt imagine taking our daughter anywhere else. We are so lucky to have found her.

I do not recommend this childcare for some reasonable concerns. I am a teacher and value education and thoughtful care. Yuli exceeded my expectations regarding my daughters learning, routines and communication. I see childcare as a partnership considering I also teach full time so it is important to me that I partner with my families and whoever is looking after my child does the same for me. However, I have concerns of racism regarding Yuli. Our family was the only family of color and I see below the only other family who had similar complaints was also a family of color. I was told my daughters hair needed to be styled differently when she came with traditional braids and beads. Also, my daughters pants were a little big, in which Yuliana could have just let me know so I can fix the problem- which I did by getting her a belt. However, she recommended we shop at good will, assuming money is a concern and that she could donate clothes. I respectfully assured her that my daughter had an abundance of clothes and that was not the issue. Furthermore, she is very strict regarding time. I asked her before enrolling my daughter if I have to drop her off or pick her up at the exact same time everyday? Because that is not realistic with being a teacher and my husband in the military- she told me no as long as its within the ten hours. However, when I dont pick her up within the usual times (but still within the ten hour window) shes very upset with an attitude and wanting to charge me additional. I over communicate my schedule, when Im on my way, or if Im in traffic considering I work 30 minutes away. I have never picked my daughter up past 10 hours or after 5pm regardless, the daycare hours are until 6pm. So, all in all. I was able to communicate with Yuliana but my husband felt very disrespected by her tone and constant telling us what we needed to do (goodwill, etc.). He expressed that he respected her but felt she had overstepped boundaries. Based on this, the next day she terminated my daughters care. My husband was underway with the military and I am a full time teacher, so for her to immediately terminate care in the middle of the week is unprofessional and emotional. There was no request for a meeting to discuss concerns between my husband and I with her or to try and problem solve. I was very disappointed in regards to the way she handled communication and challenges with us and unsettled by her assumptions, recommendations and complaints against our family. I have never had negative encounters with my daughters childcare and being a new military family to the area in search of care, this was not the best experience. I want to be honest of our experiences, not out of spite but so others are informed.
