Labor day weekend I was grateful to find this store open to take my rental car in to get the rear tire checked since it was showing a low pressure. I was told that the tire valve was leaking and it was fixed and all tires checked. While driving away I noticed that all four tire pressures were showing 38 PSI and upon arrival to my destination and checking the recommended tire pressure (inside the door) I found out it was supposed to be 34 PSI. Since I was driving out of state the next day and having some knowledge about increase in pressure as temperature increases, I took the car back and was told by the technician that the protocol is to set the pressure to 4 PSIs higher than what's recommended since as temperature increases pressure decreases. REALLY? I could hardly believe what I was hearing. What if I didn't check the tire pressures? What if the tires had some defect and the increased pressure caused a blowout on the freeway? If nothing else, your technicians should have a solid knowledge of what an increase in temperature does to a tire pressure.
