Avoid this post office and go to the one in Elmwood or elsewhere if you want to be treated half way decently. I get that dealing with college kids would be tiresome, but the service here was pretty unacceptable.

This place is great if you don't need to interact with the staff at all. Otherwise... well, let's just say the DMV has better customer service.

Our mail carrier in Oakland is great, but this Durant Ave post office in Berkeley today reinforced my perception that the counter service in post offices has a culture of dishonesty, because when they show you the screen with the prices for shipping, the lowest price is always last, sometimes on a second page, and you can't scroll to see it unless the clerk scrolls it. At first she showed me both screens, then back to the first which started with a price of about $25, and she said the $3 price didn't exist, but I knew that I had seen it, but the screen didn't allow me to scroll down. Then after some delay when I insisted she showed me that lower price again. This happens every time I ship something at the post office. I'd like to give the clerks the benefit of the doubt to think that it's due to some bad management decision to have this software that shows the lowest price last, but always having to ask a clerk to see the 2nd screen, and they never give you a heads up that a lower price is at the end of the all the prices, on a 2nd page that's initially hidden, and they often wouldn't even show you unless you ask, tells me the clerks are bought into this dishonesty too. Disappointing.

Theyre supposed to open at 9 every day but they rarely open on time. Customer service is s veer warm or friendly
