Carmelitas Modern Mexican Cuisine

LOVED working with Carmelita's for catering needs over the years and so glad to have gotten to experience their sit down environment! This is upscale flavor in a comfortable setting. We had a smaller client meeting so just a few apps but oh was it worth it!! Walking in, it feels inviting yet private once you sit, very comfortable. The living la vida loca platter is a great sharable snack and each item is just PERFECTION! The salsas all had a unique flavor and solid variety, guacamole was fresh and light, and the chicharrones were light, crispy and well flavored but not *too greasy. I mean you want some but not too much and these were perfect! Service was fabulous! Attentive, kind, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome without interrupting the meeting flow. Literally could not have had a better experience! Thanks guys!

I hate writing bad reviews, but I was excited to try this new restaurant and ended up being very disappointed. There werent many options for dinner to begin with and then our server told us they had run out of ceviche and birria which narrowed down the the menu options. My friend didnt like any of the remaining food options and wanted to order a chicken quesadilla which the server said she could not order off of the kids menu. I find this very odd. There were no customers inside besides my friend and I, so I dont know why they couldnt make my friend a simple chicken quesadilla or charge her extra for it considering the limiting food options. We ordered the chips and salsas. The chips were very salty and greasy. The salsas were okay but the house salsa had way too much cumin in it. I ordered the mole enchiladas with cilantro lime rice and refried beans. The refried beans were so salty that I couldnt eat them. The cilantro lime rice was not what I expected at all. It was basically just white rice with lime juice and cilantro on top. Not good at all. My mole enchiladas also were disappointing. They did not taste like mole in my opinion. I did like the horchata and the tres leches cake (it was just a little dry in some places). Our server was nice, but the place itself just didnt seem very welcoming. The people in the kitchen kept giving us looks and didnt smile back when I smiled at them. I love supporting small businesses, but I wont be coming back to this restaurant. The food was bad and definitely not worth the price. I dont recommend this place at all.

This place is delicious. One of My new favorites!!! They had a band playing Friday night. Super fun and cool. Delicious unique food!

The food was Great! We moved to NWA from southern CA a few years ago and really missed authentic Mexican food. Carmelitas was a welcome taste of home. Already can't wait to go again!
