image Lived here for a year. The apartment itself wasnt really the issue.
Began renting in 2/2023
The complex was owned by Elevation real estate when we began our lease. We had little to no issues during this time,
Then about 2-3 months in we get a note on the door saying a new company from Tennessee purchased the leases and complex.
This is when our issues began.
We couldnt get ahold of ANYONE in charge, via phone or email to even pay our rent for 3 months
BUT they somehow continued the renovations in our building
During this time, our water was accidentally shut off, for 48 hours. Twice. Without even a sorry.
A window was busted out of our car by a laborer and we had to chase them down ourselves to eventually get the damages replaced. Because again, not a single resident could get ahold of anyone.
Our AC went out for 3 weeks during the summer. When they finally did fix it, they just drilled a hole through our outside wall and left it like that.
We eventually got an online portal to pay rent. And a temp to work the office.
When we got said online portal they charged us multiple times for water every month.
Never responded to work orders unless we called.
And if you think were done!
Our heat went out again in the winter, they refused to fix it during below 0 temperatures and then didnt bother to bring us anything until I called multiple times to complain and request heaters.
When they came to fix it, it took about an hour.
They tried adding and changing policies to our lease without any updates or signatures.
Then near the end of our lease, we began having issues with money. Instead of offering payment plans, the front office lady (who sounds like she smokes 6 packs a day) refused partial payments. Of any kind.
Instead she harassed us by calling us multiple times a week and demanded we request money from family members.
In the last month of our lease she SHOWED UP AT OUR DOOR and came in without permission to demand rent immediately. We were 10 days behind.
Then when we turned in our keys, she told us she was going to hold our deposit unless we did a walkthrough with her. We had to work, and again this is not outlined in our lease, so we refused.
So I dont know who really checks this, if its you office lady, or someone actually knows the lawbut yeah. Heres some photos of how it was when we left it. Ill be expecting my full deposit back in a reasonable timeframe of 30 days.
UPDATE: After Blair so kindly asked me to call him in the response, I tried.
The number he had but didnt know if it was the right number? That was my husbands number. The OTHER LEASE HOLDER. WHOSE NAME WAS STATED BOTH ON THE LEASE AND IN THEIR VOICE MAIL!
It took 2 days to finally get through, and all he wanted to do was say sorry..after I informed him that in fact doesnt fix anything, he got upset and got off the phone as fast as possible without really addressing any individual issues, and stating he has told Betty (the office lady) to return our deposit and it takes about 4 weeks to process so we should get that soon.
I called Betty immediately afterwards to find out the date in which we would receive our deposit, as no one had contacted us to this regard. After her initial confusion and lack of knowledge in this, I reminded her of the LAW!
Turns out it was only asked of her yesterday. Nearly 3 weeks after our move out. Which means it wont get to us until 6-8 weeks post move out.
Stay away from these slumlords.
