I wanted to share a recent experience we had with Luke from Smith Construction and Excavation Services, LLC. We are currently building our dream home on the street where Luke's parents live. Luke's company is not the builder. That is a construction company that shall not be named here. When our builder started work for the foundation something seemed very wrong to us. The property is fairly flat but instead of filling dirt up a little for the foundation, they dug a 4 foot deep hole for the foundation. We could not believe what was happening and we brought it to the attention of the builder immediately. The builder told us it was correct and not to worry. They would take care of it with a drainage plan. We could not get the builder to accept from us that something was wrong. As I mentioned, Luke's father lives on this street. Noticing the new construction, he came by to see how things were going. One evening, we were on-site looking at the newly poured foundation, when Luke's father came by to say Hi and meet us. He told us that something was wrong with how deep they had poured the foundation. He told us that his son is in the construction business and that we should talk to him (Luke). We contacted Luke and he told us that something was very wrong with the elevation of the foundation and if left uncorrected it would lead to some very expensive drainage work throughout the lot to make sure that rain water would drain off the property correctly. We explained our attempts to get our builder to see things otherwise. Remember, Luke, is not our builder so he has no interest in this whole matter except his desire to help us figure out what we could do at this stage. He suggested we get someone to do a survey of the lot and see if the elevations were correct. We found a hydrologist who has a drone who could fly over the lot and with sophisticated instruments make a topological map that would definitely show us if there was a problem. When he was done, he confirmed that the elevation the builder used was 2 feet below where it should have been. Armed with this information we approached our builder again and demanded that he get the elevation verified. The result was that the original surveyor came out and re-surveyed the elevation and found that it was, in fact, 2 feet too low. It was his mistake. We are now in the process of working to resolve this mistake. I wanted to share our story because Luke's only desire was to help us understand that we shouldn't accept this mistake from the builder and be struck with huge landscaping expenses in the future to fix the drainage problems. I wish he had been our builder from the start. He is knowledgeable, has common sense and is a person of integrity. I highly recommend Luke and his company, Smith Construction and Excavation Services, LLC to anyone who is looking for a homebuilder.

Where do I begin?? I have been working with contractors for almost a year now, preparing to build a new home. Out of the many people and companies I have met, Luke was - by far - the best! Being that I am in Queen Creek, Luke didn't have to take my septic install, but he did, and I am so grateful. In fact, I wish I could have used the Smith brothers for everything else, too, that's how great they are. Friendly, reliable and skilled, I will be singing their praises for a long while! Thank you, Luke, for being a bright spot in this crazy homebuilding process!

As I prepared to write a review for Smith Construction and Excavation Services, I honestly get all teared up with gratitude. They have saved the day! We've had delay after delay in getting our home construction project off the ground, but Luke and his team made magic happen virtually overnight. They are immensely professional, honest and trustworthy. As soon as we hired them, my anxiety washed away and the job was completed with lightning speed and accuracy. We will not soon forget this team and their remarkable work. If you need an excavation team, you've found them!

Smith Construction(Luke and Co) is who I trust my own homesite and recommend to my customers/clients. He is honest, relentlessly hardworking and came through in ways that other contractors fell short during the pandemic construction trade shortage. He has stellar work ethic and is always honest and dependable. Every single pad he has built for my customers(including my own) has passed a compaction test, exceeding 95%. In the construction world, this is a big deal. He has often "come to the rescue" of many needing site services. Luke Smith is an amazing resource that anyone looking to do earthworks, site-plans, G/Ds Native Plant Preservation plans and hydrology reports(the list goes on) would do well to work with. If I could give him more stars, I would.
