My wife and I both received the most thorough eye exams we've ever had, thanks to Dr. Yates and his assistants. We are so glad we visited this place and will be using AZ Eye Institue from now on.

My mother has been a patient of Dr. Justo’s for many, many years. This year when she made her appointment to see him she made an appointment for both she and I to be seen consecutively on the same day. When the office staff called to confirm the appointments they notified us that our appointments would not be with Dr. Justo and would instead be with the other doctor. They of course never mentioned the other doctor was not an ophthalmologist . We arrived at 1:45pm for our 2:00pm and 2:15pm appointments. A young blonde women at the front desk greeted us speaking to my mother in a very condescending voice the way people sometimes talk to children and the elderly. I asked the receptionist to verify that we would indeed be seeing an ophthalmologist and NOT an optometrist, the receptionist said the doctor was a “medical optometrist” and launched into a diatribe about how the only difference between optometrists and ophthalmologists was that optometrists can’t do surgery. In reality the difference is a significant amount of training…A medical school degree and at least four years of additional training. I was seeking a qualified ophthalmologist due to a history of retinal detachment and other ophthalmic issues. At this point we were feeling very baited and switched. The snotty and condescending receptionist with the sense of over importance and lack of education only made it worse. Regardless, we decided to keep the appointment and after waiting a bit our name was called. I say “our” name because Mom and I have the same first name. The tech seemed confused about the fact that we both had an appointment and as we started to explain the situation, a petite, older lady was attempting to squeeze by us in the hallway, seeming a bit lost. The tech spoke to her in that same condescending tone the receptionist had used with my mother…It only got worse from there as the tech became incredibly defensive. We cancelled our appointments at that point and will NEVER be back. It’s unfortunate that Dr. Justo has spun this office off to its own devices without proper management or oversight. He can do better, assuming he’s still involved at all with this practice.

I had an upper right eyelid surgery in June. It was my third surgery. Another doctor operated on my right eye and I was very disappointed. Dr. Justo took the time to listen to me and was very respectful. I couldn’t be happier with my results. My eye looks amazing! I would never go to another doctor for surgery! The surgery stuff was excellent as well! Dr. Justo is the best!
