On Feb.11, 2024, my wife was airlifted from Del Webb Hospital to Banner University, Phx. She had a brain bleed that resulted in a severe stroke. For her first 10 days on the 2nd floor of Banner, she was in a coma. On day 11 she opened her eyes to a new world. With nothing familiar before her, the staff had her on a ventilator, feeding tube, tracheostomy tube, and 4 drip bags. Round the clock care prepared my wife and I to eventually be moved up to the 11th floor, where Select Specialty Hospital was waiting. Under the watchful eye of Dr. Bashur Majeed, Select immediately improved my wife's prognosis for survival. As I write this, my wife of almost 53 years has a new lease on life, as we're getting set to go to a rehab facility closer to our home. The details of my wife's journey are too numerous to recount, but I was able to spend virtually every day at her side. Her room is OUR room, complete with stereo, music CDs, and a separate table I use to prepare bible studies for our church. Other than the oversized bed in the middle, you'd be hard-pressed to see the room as one in a hospital. It looks more like the room of someone's eldest child. The staff of nurses, R/T's, CNA's, P/T's, O/T's, Case Mgrs. , and other specialists have taken my wife through this difficult time. She's off every tube and machine, speaking in ever-increasingly longer sentences, can be fed regular food, and is healing nicely and quickly. The staff has been amazingly attentive to the wife whom I can recognize now (and who can also recognize me)! Every beeping monitor has been answered, every consideration has been accounted for, and every person who's come in her room has always asked the same question on the way out- "What more can I do for you?" There's a Recognition Board in the hallway, and I took every comment card they had to try to remember by name the standout professionals my wife has had. We've still a long way to go to being self-mobilized, and while there are no guarantees of that, we are with great hope that the fine people at Select will continue to treat us while our gracious Lord heals both of us. Staff has been courteous to me every day, and I must admit that when they walk us through the little steps of progress we get each day, I couldn't be more thankful.

I will never have anybody come here. The communication is so bad and it's not about the patient. Moving him to a place he will not be there long because he just not ready for the place. The patient means nothing to this place like I said it's the insurance.

Excellent! Exceptional care, clean, friendly, highly educated, compassionate nurses and staff! Management even introduced themselves and care about the staff and patients! Simply the best experience!

My wife, Sharon, was treated at Banner Select Hospital for around 5 weeks during May-June 2023. The dedicated medical staff of Doctors, Nurses, CNA's, Respiratory Therapists, PT's and Case Managers were outstanding in her service and care during a difficult time while she was on a ventilator and bedridden. Could not have asked for better overall healthcare for her! I would not hope for anyone to be in the situation she was in, however it is good to know places like Banner Select exist in this special medical area. JH

My husband of 33 years died at Select Specialty. He was a fall-risk patient on a ventilator. He was found on the floor with his head on the bed. According to his medical records, my husband tried to get out of bed twice that day. It's noted that he was confused and told staff he was tired of being in bed, and still, with all the chances they had to protect him, I get a call just before falling asleep telling me that my husband was found on the floor and had died, but was resuscitated. I was also told he had had an anoxic brain injury. I had seen him just hours before. He was transferred to a different facility. My husband never regained consciousness. He officially died two weeks later. I will miss him always. He really was, and is, the love of my life. He is the person I wanted to spend my life with. My heart is forever changed. The hurt is deep. I wish I had never agreed to my husband being transferred to Select Specialty. My condolences to those who suffer as I do.
