I have visited this park many times in the last 10 years and I love everything about it. So many places to explore and so much wildlife. Keep up the good work!

Mostly fishing is done here. Not many folks around at all. Perfect place to play with your dog.

Lakepoint Resort State Park Directions from RVTRIPWIZARD were correct. Entrance into the Park has signage pointing to the Marina Lodge for check-in. Road network is good and plenty of parking at the Marina for large rigs. Check in was easy in the Camp Store which had a nice selection. Fire wood was available to purchase. There is also a grill at the Marina Lodge but it was totally confusing on when they are open. She told me they would be open Monday (we were checking in on a Sunday) but an hour later she told my wife the grill would be closed but the restaurant in the Main Hotel Lodge would be open. We went to confirm and nope, they are closed on Mondays. So, at this stage its anyones guess. We were provided a map with code for the security gate into the actual RV campsites. There are lots of trails in this Park but no map was provided for them. Roads up to the RV campground security gate were ok but once through the gate they got ugly quick. Our initial reservation was for Barbour Loop. FYI, there are four loops; Alabama Loop, Barbour Loop, Deer Court Loop and Clark Loop. Only Deer Court has full hookups. First thing we noticed were the roads actually got worse as we entered Barbour Loop. Also, all of the hook ups were on the passenger side so water and electrical cables would have to be snaked under your rig. Another thing was there were a number of apparent long stay residents that gave the loop a junky feeling. We called the Marina and they switched us to a site in Deer Court. Full hook up sites are $30 a night and most are pull throughs. Sites are asphalt with a fire pit, picnic table and e/w/s. Roads remain in terrible shape and most sites are in need of mowing and some road repair. Many of the approaches to sites were deeply rutted. AT&T had one to two bars. No WiFi is available. This must have been one heck of a Park in its day. We saw abandoned tennis courts, signs along one of the trails that needed replacing, and there was just a general sense of depression. Now, if you are into water activities, this is the place for you because the Marina was beautiful. If you are looking for a single night stay this will work. If you are staying because you have a boat then youve come to the right place.
