12+ years ago we took out a construction loan with Evangeline bank to build a home.  At the conclusion of the construction we paid off the loan and refinanced with another lender.  We have refinanced one more time since then.  We are currently selling that home and we discovered that Evangeline never filed the loan closure with the Clerk of the Court.  As a result we are incurring a $105.00 filing fee.  The bank representative said they don't close the loans as a matter of standard practice.  He also stated that any subsequent refinancing would have had to be a second mortgage and he blamed our issue on lack of diligence by legitimate lenders (which Evangeline is not).  If I were to leave an account open for 12+ years after it was closed my company auditors would have me shot.  Evangeline is a very poorly run and managed operation.  Take your business elsewhere.
