Marty was great to work with! He always made sure we understood everything and felt comfortable throughout the process. He continued to make himself available in the evenings and on the weekends whenever we needed. Charles Hawthorne aka Chuck was less than ideal to work with. We were first time home buyers and where at the beginning, he seemed very excited and helpful, turned cold, conniving and disrespectful.
First, we kept receiving randomly updated loan documents asking for signatures and as first time home buyers, had no idea what was going on. We would reach out to Chuck with questions and most of the time they were dodged with a thats not the final closing disclosure or no response whatsoever. After speaking with multiple friends regarding their process on buying homes, I was under the impression that the lender should actually be reaching out to us and letting us know that new information had been sent and if we have any questions that they would be happy to help us, but we had none of that communication.
What really triggered us is when our lender credit on the loan documents started decreasing and we asked Chuck why and he said the bank had extended the interest rate so we would continue to be penalized as long as the interest rate was extended. I was very upset and sent an email with all of my frustrations thus far and his response regarding the reduced credit was, and I quote from his email The delay is not the banks fault, and they gave you 5 free days already because I asked them too. Are you aware of that? So when asked specifically whose fault it was, he told us it was our fault. Meanwhile, we had provided him all of the documents we needed in a very timely manner, asked if there was anything else that we could do to help (he said no), and we were always more than friendly and cooperative until we had had enough and felt taken advantage of. As it turns out, it was actually his fault because he couldnt get the main insurance policy from the HOA in which he had three months to acquire, but waited until the last minute, then when the bank wouldnt finalize the loan without those documents, he had to ask for the extension, which then he made it seem like he was doing for us, but really, it was for him since he couldnt obtain the document, but the bank continued to penalize us by reducing our lender credit and Chuck continued to blame us.
Overall, he was very defensive, rude and lacked a cordial business etiquette that I would expect from a lender trying to help out first time homebuyers.

Vincent helped us get a HELOC at an excellent rate. Throughout the process (which was super fast!) he was very communicative and easy to work with. I highly recommend him.

As a first time home buyer, working with Vin made the process much more manageable. Vin was available for questions anytime we had them, he explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, and he was able to offer competitive rates and options. I would recommend Vin to anyone looking to buy a home in todays market.

I worked with Vincent on my mortgage, and he could not be better. Vincent was clear and direct, and helped explain everything involving the mortgage process. He was also there to answer any questions (and I had a ton), and was always available to quickly chat on the phone to explain in detail. The process of working with Garden State Mortgage was a breeze, and I couldnt recommend them more.
