Ordered a birthday cake for 8-10ppl with dulce leche filling, and fruit on top.The baker recommended meringue icing. When I got there the box was tapped shut and I snuck a peak inside and looked okay, icing maybe a little runny so I asked her if she thinks it would be okay for a 25 min drive because it was very hot out. I would have gone to a gas station and gotten a styrofoam cooler and ice to keep the cake cool but she said it would be fine. After I got home, I took the tape off the sides and I was so disappointed to see that the icing melted and some of the fruit has run off the cake. The fruit is wet on top and to be honest the decoration was really disappointing. Not only are the slices very minimal but they are not cut well. A $40 cake, I shouldve just gone with Publix. My mom felt so bad because a friend of her recommended Claras bakery. Maybe this was a one off but if you live far and its hot out, I would not recommend a meringue cake with fruit. After I called her and told her, all she could say is idk what to tell you, Im sorry no offer for money back.
Update: Even after putting the cake in the fridge until guest arrived the meringue continued to melt and all the fruit was off the cake. Taste was grainy and cake just didnt taste great. I feel sorry for my husband who was really looking forward to this.
