Jessica's shop at 330 Boscawen is charming--cool vintage things everywhere. Her bathroom was clean and stocked. The products she used on my hair smelled wonderful--lavender shampoo and a delicious conditioner. Instead of hairspray she used a sea salt beach hair spray. I LOVE IT! I had no idea they made such a thing. And Jessica didn't try to sell me any product. She told me I can make my own spray and to look online for a free recipe. Ok, the cut. Even my VERY PICKY father thinks it is really cute. My handyman commented several times. It's beautifully layered and smartly styled, sort of 1920s actually. I really like it. I'm overweight so a good cut makes all the difference in the world. I come from McLean, VA where their Hair Cuttery stylists, yes I call these ladies stylists, are the best in the country, easily outcutting McLean places that charge $100 to start. So as a new customer, I was worried about Jessica's would charge me. But she didn't sell me a bunch of Redken shampoo, and she gave me a cut I probably would pay a lot more for at a swankier Winchester shop. I highly recommend Jessica.

Jessica absolutely RUINED my hair and charged me $550. The goal was to go platinum, then to grey, with about a level 2 shadow root. Jessica CHARGED ME BY THE HOUR. She PROMISED to use Olaplex. My hair was VIRGIN to bleach, and I wanted to maintain the integrity of my hair. My first session, I knew we would need more than one, but I expressed NOT wanting to leave yellow or orange. That is EXACTLY what I left with. Yellow hair with orange patches. She also OVERESTIMATED the time. I knew she did this, but said nothing, as I knew I was coming back. I simply made a note to pay close attention next time, so I knew the EXACT amount of time. I was very surprised at the amount of damage my hair sustained. I asked via Facebook messenger if she had used Olaplex, and if she had used both 1 and 2. I asked, bc after research, I knew she had not, number 2 sits on your hair for 10-20 minutes before toning. This step DID NOT happen, so I knew, at the very least, step 2 was not used. I also knew from my research, via OLAPLEX'S site, steps 1 and 2 are a team, and to be effective, they MUST BE USED TOGETHER. She said she had used it. I knew she was lying, but hoped at least she would be more encouraged to use it next time, as we previously discussed that although her price was VERY HIGH, Olaplex was included. At my second appointment, I made note of the time I actually sat in her chair. Throughout the process, I asked a lot of questions because I am naturally inquisitive and she had already proven herself untrustworthy by overestimating the time last appointment and lying about Olaplex. She even told on herself about the Olaplex. I mentioned how bad my hair felt, she said, "You will notice a huge difference this time, because I am using Olaplex. I couldn't last time, because if I did, it wouldn't bust through your old hair dye." AGAIN, I stayed quiet, as she was in the middle of doing my hair. Three times when my hair needed dryed she put me under the dryer, claiming that it was better for my hair. Maybe, but in actuality, she said, "While you are under there, I am going to go pump." She just had a baby. I was PAYING BY THE HOUR! THAT DRYER IS SLOW! She wanted to use it to get more money and to allow her to pump! She put the grey hair color on my hair WET. I questioned this, and she got angry. My hair came out a very lavender grey. We had discussed I wanted NO lavender tones. It was also VERY PATCHY AND PLATINUM underneath, due to putting it on WET hair. She agreed to try to create a more true grey and do a patch test. It turned brown. She took me to the sink, then said, "I really don't want wet and dry you all over again, I need to get home to my kid." After asking how she was getting it out, she said with a towel and color remover, like what you remove color FROM YOUR SKIN!!! I asked, "Doesn't it need washed?" She blew up, "Do you trust me?! Because I am really getting the feeling that you don't, and it's really starting to PISS me off. I have done hair for 10 years" I got up, told her that I DIDN'T appreciate being yelled, and of course I wanted my hair like the picture, especially for whar she was charging. She went off, claiming she didn't have a "fairy wand." I told her I was leaving. She asked me to sit down, so she could finish styling me. I said no way and asked the price. She tried to lie about what I owed and became irate when I refused her price. She agreed to "prorate an hour." She claimed TO GIVE ME A FREE HOUR! WHAT KIND OF STYLIST YELLS AT A CLIENT UNTIL THEY CRY AND LETS THEM LEAVE WITH HAIR THAT IS THE EXACT COLOR THEY ASKED IT NOT TO BE? I DID HAVE A PERMANENT BROWN PATCH IN THE BACK OF MY HAIR! I tried to have my hair fixed by another stylist. My hair IS SO DAMAGED, it won't HOLD ANY COLOR. NOW IT IS BREAKING UP TO THE ROOTS WHERE THE BLEACH BEGAN. Jessica takes no ownership and has not apologized. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY HAIR CUT INTO A PIXIE, BC SHE DAMAGED IT SO BADLY! Jessica knows consequent deposits DID NOT cause this. She should be ashamed. She should REFUND ALL of my money.
