I started my first small business at the beginning of this year and as the year reaches its end found myself with a great deal of stress and worry about the upcoming tax season in regards to what to claim and how to file. I reached out stating I have many questions and a complex situation and would love some help and advice. The woman that returned my call was making jokes about how to pronounce my name without even trying to attempt it, which seemed a bit unprofessional to me but ok, its a complicated name for you Ill let it pass. But rather than providing any actual advice or answers I was directed back to the IRS website to review things Id already reviewed and was already confused by. I was hoping more for an opportunity to schedule a meeting and sit down and discuss the complexities of my situation at some point but rather felt I was given a brush off. I ended the call feeling even more discouraged than before I reached out. I ended up cutting the call short after a very awkward and almost condescending conversation and ended up continuing my search for help because clearly I wasnt going to be offered any here. Very discouraging for a first year business looking to protect themselves
