Just had a jet repair done to my drain field. The guys were professional and friendly. They reset the float position on my pump that pumps the water into the drain-field without charge and no hesitation. Besides the jet work, they installed some air vents in the field that stuck above the ground. I called the office back a couple days later and left a message to talk about their height and Greg Mayfield, the owner called me back in a very short time. Without hesitation, he offered to lower the vents so my lawn mower could ride over them easily. He only cautioned me to be careful to not let the wheels of my riding mower run over the vents or let the dirt creep back around them to clog them up. All in all, I am very satisfied with the job that was done and so far would recommend them to anyone. The only reason I did not give them five stars is because it took two months for them to get out here to do a three and half hour job, and when they filled back in the area around the dig out they left it pretty ragged and uneven. The positive far out weighed the negative though.
I had Mr Rooter out here first to help solve my problem. All I can say about them is I have a working pump that they replaced for $800 a plastic filter that is made to be washed not replaced but they did. They did install some risers, which I needed and replaced an alarm box that would not have been discovered had I not asked their "quality control" why there was a freshly cut wire hanging out of the bottom of it. This I discovered when he came back after I began to feel like I had been ripped off. His first response was looks like that was cut along time ago. That with clearly shiny metal glowing in the sun and no float switch line attached, just the electrical supply. He opened the box to reattached the wire and discovered a solid mass of corrosion in the box. In defense of that one itty bitty bit of deceit, they did replace the alarm box at no additional charge. My recommendation ... stick with Southern Soil and Water. Also, if you don't want to use these guys the county website has a list of violations officially raised against septic companies. Trust me it pays to check it out.
