I went to the Platte County Fair 4-H Beef competition. The show was run by dedicated parents and a judge from outside the area was brought in. The 4-H er"s work long and hard to get their animals ready for these events. After the competition season comes to an end many tears are shed when the time comes to sell the animals. Some of the lucky competitors and their animals get a chance to go to State Fair after which the animals will be sold. 4-H is not only about cattle. There are many other venues that young people can show their specialties in. The 4-H er"s learn a great deal by competing in their chosen specialty. God Bless the Leaders and the young people.
