    Jim Laabs and Schiller share an address, so they are effectively the manufacturer. In reality, they order their horns from overseas and put a Schiller stamp on them. Even though they are effectively the manufacturer, they dont keep all models on hand - their factory is overseas. That means it can take up to six weeks to get an instrument that they supposedly try to ship in a week or less (according to the message on their payment screen). However, in my experience, they dont disclose what is or is not in stock on their website, so you run the risk of purchasing something you wont get for months, and you may never know it until after youve laid out thousands of dollars. I paid, received the message about the one-week shipping, then got a email saying it would take 3 weeks. After two weeks, I asked if there was tracking info and was told the horn had just arrived in California and it would be another 2 1/2 weeks to get to me. Two weeks later, I asked for tracking again and was given the same exact line about it arriving in California and taking another 2 1/2 weeks. Im currently waiting on a refund. Many of their markdowns are not actual markdowns. Theyre not selling anything less than the MSRP because they ARE the manufacturer. The apparent markdowns are often their year-round prices. While their horns are fine - Id even go so far as to say theyre an excellent quality for the price - some states consider the above to be dishonest business practices. Be ready to talk to a lawyer in your state to determine if your rights as a consumer are being violated.

    I Placed an order for a bass clarinet, I got the order confirmation but never got a shipping confirmation. I didn't hear from them for 3 weeks so I called them. The item they sold me was out of stock so they tried to sell me a more expensive one. I told them I wanted a refund. they said it was processed through PayPal even though I purchased with my credit card and now I have to pay for a refund for their incompetence.
