This place thinks theyre hot stuff. We stopped in around 8pm after an event in downtown for a late dinner. The greeting was cold and confusing at the door. We were seated to a very dark corner and it took a few minutes to get the little lamp. The dining room was fine and I liked the upscale vibe but was bothered by the music videos playing on the televisions screenssome were not family friendly by any means. The chips were fine, but the salsa was served warm/hot and tasted like marinara sauce. The limited menu is on the pricier end for the Fox Valley. We dont mind paying what they were asking for some of these dishes, however, my skirt steak burritos tasted just as good as the other Mexican places in town, for $5-7 more. Service was fine, but Im most angry that on top of my $22 steak burritos, I was charged $5 FOR LETTUCE AND TOMATO on the side. Absurd. The chicken burritos next to the steak ones on the menu had lettuce and tomato listed coming with it, and I like the freshness with my Mexican food. I asked for lettuce and tomato with mine and the server said of course, on the side? Yes. Didnt find out its the greatest up-charge (rip-off) Ive ever experienced until the check came. Just insult to the injury that was the tiniest little dollop of sour cream on top. So, dinner was good, but not $28 good. Glad I didnt order a drinkmy pockets wouldve been emptied for the weekend.

If you have been sitting on making a visit to Ernesto you are missing out. I waited far too long to discover this gem. Everything looked and tasted amazing! Do not be dissuaded by the humble exterior this is an experience you will not want to miss! Tell 'em Ashlee sent ya.
