They seem to only want to buy far over their resale. They are not collector friendly.

I went here the other day to sell a significant amount of silver US coinage (I routinely buy/sell in the Madison area) and walked out quickly. Rude service personnel, who literally offer the worst melt silver buy rate in Madison. If you need to sell and not be cheated, go to Civitas Gallery across the street or Jim's Coins at Hilldale. Both offer honest fair deals. They also don't treat you like a two bit street dealer.

I appreciate vintage and estate jewelry; I primarily purchase from resellers on Instagram. I was in Madison last week and found University Coin & Jewelry with a quick online search. I had so much fun shopping the extensive selection with help from Rhonda and Dave. The selection was extensive and the staff was very knowledgeable, nice, and knew the inventory. They were helpful but didn't pressure me. I found some great treasures. It's a full service situation, too, as they were able to size a ring I selected. I stopped in today with some items with zero sentimental value, wondering if they had any real value. I had a very professional interaction and ended up selling my items for a fair price. It was a pleasant experience all around!

Overall, a very good experience. The store is clean and appealing. we worked with Tony, who was competent, honest, and fair. We had a pleasant to chat while conducting business, which was important given that I was dealing with jewelry from my late mother's estate. The store dog was fun too!
