Made an appointment with them for a consultation. They said it will cost $ 160 per hour. The appointment took about one hour and the half. They was not professional and could not answer some of my questions. Had to call me back with the answers. Received the invoice from them for $ 499.50. Called them to find out why is the bill so high. The answer was the hourly rates much higher then $ 160 and they have no idea who told me about $ 160. Do not deal with that compony.

We loved working w Broyles CPAs prior to Apel taking over. They were communicative, helpful, and trustworthy. We felt so lucky to have them. Since Apel has taken over, we have been very disappointed and are taking our business elsewhere. Despite numerous attempts to speak w an accountant over a period of months, we have only ever been able to speak w the receptionist. She was kind and helpful but her promises that an accountant would be in touch were never fulfilled. Over a period of six months, we have not spoken to an accountant. Upon receiving an unexpected $2000 bill from the IRS, we reached out repeatedly (again no return calls from Bruce, only speaking to the receptionist). A few weeks later, we received an email regarding the mistake that they made. They took no accountability, blamed the previous owners, and relayed that we would have to pay the additional money. Frustrating, but mistakes happen. The final straw was when we received a $166 bill from Apel for phone and email communication regarding their error. While the fee was not excessive, it seemed highly unreasonable considering we never spoke to an accountant, it was their mistake, and we were never informed about their charging procedures (which are vastly different from the previous owners). When we brought these concerns to their attention, there again was no accountability or any willingness to rectify the situation. If you are okay w being charged for calls to a receptionist or if you do not expect return calls from an accountant regarding your personal taxes or small business taxes, Apel in Middleton is for you. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

I'm inclining to agree with the previous reviewer. We had also been a long time customer of Broyles prior to Apel Associates taking over. Since this change, responsiveness has been very slow. The discussions we have with Apel only occurs time when we initiate the call. Weeks will lapse between the calls without hearing from anyone which of course necessitates yet another call from me to their reception to request for status of our returns. As a professional courtesy was expecting that there will be far more responsiveness and less customer-initiated dialog.
