        Whitegrass is truly a special place. I've been reading about it as the ancestral home of Appalachian Telemarking for years. I moved to Northern Virginia four years ago, and was finally able to go this year as my children aged into skiing this year. There are miles of beautifully maintained trails, wonderful telemark glades, and the nicely maintained slopes of the old Weiss Knob alpine resort. Chip Chase and the staff are friendly and amazing, the cafe has great food, and there's an awesome, welcoming vibe for cross country skiers, telemark skiers, and some folks on alpine touring skis. Great fun!

        Just the best place ever. Surest way to defeat the winter blues is to head out here and ski up a mountain. Do what the sign says: quit your job. Ski midweek.
