We acquired vacation property in Preston County in early 2020 and began to look for a contractor to prepare our building site. We needed to clear a considerable amount of trees, run utilities from the road , install a septic system, and prepare the building site for a foundation. We received quotes from no fewer than 8 different contractors and decided to work with Jim Crane. Jim came highly recommended by our property owners association and prepared a detailed, well thought out quote. His quote was not the cheapest but we are very clear that we ended up with the best job. Jim is what I would call an endangered species when it came to his work habits and ethic. When he said he would do something we could bet he would follow through. He was very good at explaining things about our job and keeping us informed every step of the way. We found that Jim worked beyond the call of duty when we were having issues finding a mason to install our foundation. He helped us find a mason and worked closely with him on the scheduling and work needed to get the job done. Jim was also very fair with us on the additional cost to clear substantial rock from our landscape that was beyond the scope of the original quote. We were completely satisfied with our experience working with Jim and look forward to additional work that we need done in the future.

I needed some excavating, and not knowing who is good in the area I called 3 companies. One never called back, one said maybe in a month or two, and Jim was out within a week to see the details. It was a busy time of year before the frost, but the job was done well and in time. The job looked nice, the coordination was very helpful with other contractors, and pricing was clear. Done well, done on time, and helpful. I’ll be calling again when I need more work done. For comparison: I worked for an excavation company in my youth.

I recently moved into the area and purchased a new home. Built a large outside metal building and needed someone to excavate the site for the building. Contacted Crane Excavation. They came over, looked the site over and were very professional and advised me on how much material I would have to move if I did it the way I wanted to do it and save me thousands of dollars. Lay out the approach to building it works great for pulling up to the building and backing a trailer into the build . The contractor whom built the building was very please with the site preparation. I would recommend Crane Excavation for any job.

I was referred to Crane Enterprises for an excavation job for a three car garage with a walkout basement. I was self contracting this job, and really had no idea what I was doing....I’d never built anything like this before and had no experience whatsoever. Jim was great. He helped me figure everything out, showed me the best way to do things, he was professional, honest, and did the job right. I also had some water issues on my property, and he helped me install drains around the house and the new garage. I couldn’t be more pleased with the work he did and would highly recommend him to anyone. He definitely knows what he is doing!

Called because our septic tank collapsed and we can't use our bathroom. They told us they wouldn't do it for 2-3 months. I guess they don't have to live without their bathrooms and stuff so it's not their problem.
