A downtown café that opens at 9am seems quite unacceptable to me, but anyway, I managed to visit Café Suisse on a rainy morning and tried their croissant, a mediocre one at best, soft, dry and lacks flavor. Disappointed, I was then intrigued by their Swiss chocolate and almond cake and had a piece, which turned out quite satisfying. This is a small bakery cafe that sells traditional style pastries and content to be living in its little world. The price, service, and interior decor (lots of old Swiss maps and posters!) all reflect that simple joy and pride. Customers don't come here for the taste (which is just ok), they come for the familiar comfort. If one of the handwritten notes in the pastry shelf reads, "best chocolate cake", I wouldn't accuse them of lying. After all, this is how we all remember about our grandma's cake. They have many gluten free options, but also note that they don't seem to make a lot everyday so they may start to sell out things in the late morning.

Hole in the wall place with some interesting cafe treats, like quiche. Definitely not a place to grab breakfast on a cold rainy morning. Good for a drive by coffee.

I got the iced vanilla latte here, and essentially a quarter of it (not even exaggerating, we watched it being made) was vanilla syrup, with the rest being a shot or two of espresso and a splash of milk. It was way too sweet (I didn't finish it ), but I think it would've been good if the amount of syrup had been halved/quartered! My friend got their iced mocha, which had a nice and rich flavor. Really wish we got to try their hot chocolate! The owner did not seem to be in the best mood the day we went and spoke curtly to me while I was ordering, making my customer experience here not super pleasant. I was really looking forward to trying this place out, but I was unfortunately very disappointed by my experience here.
