This is me and my husband's favorite breakfast in Seattle. Jean (Mae) is always there and smiling. The wait staff is super friendly and always seem to leave me in a better mood than I was when I went in. While I don't usually drink coffee (crazy for a Seattleite I know), my husband loves it and has found the best anywhere at Mae's. The food is fantastic and the crispy bacon is to die for. Be ready for a wait at busy times..but it's totally worth it. Getting there before 10 on a Saturday usually gets us in ahead of the big crowds. Our wedding was just a month ago and we love Mae's so much that we took our families there the day before the wedding for breakfast.

Mae's is the best breakfast in Seattle. With a Wisconsin flair, and a room dedicated to our bovine friends, this place delivers excellent plates every time. What they particularly shine with is the unusual. You can get a pancake breakfast anywhere, when you come to Mae's skip it and get something special. I highly recommend the smoked salmon omelet. The salmon is smoked on site, and boy can you tell. It is tender, smokey, and full of flavor. The omelet is absolutely stuffed with salmon, cream cheese, and scallions. You can also get salmon hash, or a smoked salmon Benedict. Along the same line is the trout and eggs. This a smoked fillet of trout with eggs, and is just as good as the salmon. Other favorites include the chicken fried steak & egg, anything with Mae's homemade corned beef hash, and the Barnyard Scrambler. Sober, hungover, or recovering: Mae's is the place for you!
