I went into Bamboo the other night because their sign claimed all items could be made gluten free. When I asked for one item after another, gluten free, the two girls behind the counter peered over their cellphones and told me they couldn't do that dish gluten free. This happened to the first 3 things I picked. Then I settled on the pad se ew, which I used to love at another restaraunt that has since closed. Upon getting it home, it had chicken, not beef, and was a bunch of hard leathery rice noodles, no sauce, and mushy cucumbers. I ended up feeding it to my dog.

Stumbled into this restaurant while walking downtown wanting something fresh, and that's what we got and more. The previous reviews were written a long time ago and since then obviously a lot has changed. I ordered the Panang (red curry) and it was definitely the best curry I've ever had, I did not specify how spicy I wanted it but it had just the right amount of zing. The curry paste was perfectly creamy and the fruits (pineapple, apple, etc) created the perfect taste. My mom ordered the Pad Thai and spring rolls, she ordered chicken with her Pad Thai and she literally could not stop going on about how fresh everything was, although maybe she could have gotten a little extra sauce on her noodles. My brother got the Bamboo Special Fried Rice and he loved it as well, ate the whole thing, which was huuuuge by the way. All the portions are more than enough and they are fairly priced as well. Oh and the peanut sauce for the springrolls; I could have drunk that sauce if I had wanted to! Enough about the food, it speaks for itself if you've experienced it. The ambiance was very cultural, live orchids and different plants welcome you as you walk in, and there's even a fish tank with fish that look like they came straight out of Finding Nemo (the movie). Our server was a sweet young lady who was very prompt and helped us with all of our questions as we're new to Thai/Vietnamese cuisine. But not anymore, we will definitely be coming back to try more of their vast menu. Oh! And while we were there, the cook; an older Vietnamese lady came and even asked us how our meal was, and before we could talk to her about how she keeps all her plants looking perfectly healthy she said she had fried rice cooking in the back and didn't want it to burn. There was nobody else in the restaurant at the time though so I asked what it was for and she explained to us how once a week she gives two large trays of her menu item fried rice to the local homeless people. I cannot say enough about this restaurant, if you haven't eaten here you're missing out!
