Nithya Siva, MS CCC SLP

My son, who at the time was 1 yrs. old was referred for a speech evaluation by his pediatrician to Bothell Speech and Hand Therapy. Through the grapevine, we heard that this facility would not be ideal and at that point was referred to Kindering, also in Bothell. My son was evaluated and it was apparent there was a speech delay but no diagnosis. He continued with speech services through them for at least 6 months. During these six months or more we were very frustrated as they seemed to want to find a diagnosis and label him as to why he was delayed speech wise. In the short time we were there receiving services, we were told he had behavioral problems and that he could possibly be autistic. This was very hard to hear as my son had no such characteristics or signs of either one of these. They put us through a lot of emotions. I desperately did lots of research and reading on what my son could possibly have. I reached out to friends and family asking in the community if there was anyone who they recommended as a speech pathologist. It was brought to my attention that apraxia could be it and my son needed someone who specializes in this along with mouth manipulation. I was then referred to the lovely Nithya Siva who has been a God send for our son! From my first call to her to inquire, she was so patient, kind, professional and spoke with me about my son in an in depth conversation. Just based off of our conversation I knew I wanted to start services with her. We started services the summer of 2018 so when my son was 2 years old. Nithya is a private provider that came to our home and worked with our son in a completely different manner then I had seen. My son has made huge improvements from when he started with Nithya. Apraxia is what we’re dealing with. Nithya has really helped with his mouth, jaw and tongue placement. My son is now 4 yrs. old and talking up a storm and he is understandable by 80%. As a parent, having a provider be so patient, kind and really understanding and attentive to your child means the world! I truly believe if it wasn’t for Nithya, my son would not be where he is today with his speech. I never thought I would hear my son tell me he loves me and have conversations with him. Nithya gave our family a huge gift and for that I will forever be grateful and highly recommend her as a provider! Everyone deserves a voice and she helped my son find his. A truly great speech pathologist is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget!

Torring concluded her speech therapy sessions with her mobile speech pathologist, Nithya Siva. Nithya has changed Torring and my family's life by helping her find her words. 6 months ago by complete chance Nithya came into our life. We will be forever grateful that she did. She worked one-on-one with Tutu in fun weekly sessions, whereby opening a whole new world of communication for her. Can you imagine being a toddler and exploring this great big world, having so much to say and no way to say it or express what you saw or how you feel? Week by week we saw Torring's world change; a whole new pathway of expression opened before her. Not only did she shed the tantrums and meltdowns we had come to know her by, but she blossomed with a newfound confidence, kindness and spirit. Nithya is incredible. She has changed our life.
