Took our money and made one excuse after another for two months why not started project yet.  That was April 2022. Never refunded us when he promised to and now we've filed law suit on him.

If I could give less than one star I would. I'll get ahead of it and say this isn't a scam and a real review from a previous customer. In short, this was the worst experience I've had with a contractor. Contracted this gentleman in March, I should have known from the first rescheduled meeting (an hour beforehand it was foreshadowing). Communication was far beyond sub par. If it weren't for being threatened with finding g another contractor then he showed up a hair mire regularly. The job was for a rockery pavers and underground sprinklers. Why do I have multiple sprinklers heads above ground? I've had to do more work than not since he's left including replacing sprinkler heads. We were awau for several weekends where the weather was good we returned with less than minimum work completed. I get covid happens however the job took 4 months and I'm still making corrections. For example we asked for stairs to be put in with rocks that are to be useable yet they are spaced so far apart they are close to useless. So yeah, I'm having to reset large volcanic boulders. Anyway I will leave it there... for your peace of mind get your work completed elsewhere. 09-14-2022 Edit to previous review because of owner commentary. It did not take weeks to get payment. Outstanding balance was for taxes that contractor added at the end of prolonged work. There was a refusal to pay taxes since 1) it was not written on initial scrap piece of paper that was signed as contract. If taxes are to be added in the add a simple balance +plus tax, that was not done. 2) remaining balance was to be paid at completion of job. Initially was to be Monday, pretty sure job was not completed until nearly Wednesday. 3) A contractor can't be that unreasonable in understanding that after being told multiple times that job is almost completed (I have text messages) that his requests for additional payments would be well received. 4) midway through the job to then state that "usually now I ask for 75% to be paid ... that should have been said upfront. 5) The one of the main issues with customer having to do more fixes following completion of job was not addressed. I will go back and forth on this, because I will not stand to be painted incorrect. I do not want someone to lose their job, but at the same time, be reasonable.

Our experience with Paul has been terrible. He constantly no-showed, and we had a terrible time getting ahold of him. He would say he'd come on a specific day, then just never show. We were constantly chasing him. For this job, he had to go through the driveway, and he wrote on the bid that he would patch it. He dug up the drive way and left it exposed. He didn't patch any of it, it was just a 25' long channel of dirt along with multiple cracks in multiple places on our driveway from the excavator. He took the money and ran. When we asked him about patching it, he argued the amount of damage wasn't covered in the bid, and that our driveway was "old". We pushed for him to at least lay some concrete over the walkway, so we didn't have to jump over the channel to get to our front door. It took him more than a week to show up. He poured 4' of concrete, leaving the other 21' of exposed mud) along with a totally cracked up driveway. When I asked him to patch the driveway cracks he said it was a waste of materials and time.

Do not work with Paul Cooper. He is dishonest and a thief. My father in law, who is a senior disabled veteran, contacted Laas excavation to come give a bid on some work needed on his property. Father in law has Parkinsons and Paul took advantage of his disability. He was given $1125 as a deposit, but due to my father in laws failing health, he decided to not to move forward with the project and requested the money back. Paul said he would mail back the check but it never arrived. When my wife called about it weeks later, he was rude, disrespectful and refused to give the money back. Now he will not answer their calls. Save yourself the trouble and dont contact this scam artist. 10/5/20 Response to owner: Paul Cooper's response is laughable. It further goes to show anyone who considers hiring him should avoid doing so. His reading comprehension is just as bad as his company and demonstrates his dishonesty. Nowhere in my warning to others did I state I was his customer nor would I ever willing choose to be. He is just trying to avoid paying back the money he stole from my father-in-law who is a disabled veteran. He did NOT do ANY work on my father-in-laws property but cashed the check the same day he received it. Again, I advise anyone thinking about using this company to reconsider as Paul clearly is unprofessional and will take your money without hesitation all while not providing any services.
