When our son first got enrolled in ABA with The Dozen, we had moved from an area in the country with little access to quality services for autistic children. When we got enrolled in the Dozen, our son was effectively non-verbal. Our son could not express himself. Our son could not tell us what was wrong or what was hurting him, etc. This is devastating for parents. Our son also would have weekly, sometimes daily fits where it seemed he was untethered to reality. They were absolutely heartbreaking to witness, because as parents we didn't understand why they were happening. The cause could be even the smallest things: not counting every toilet in a public bathroom, or driving down the wrong side of the drive-thru at McDonalds. In short, our son was not in a good place, which was only made worse by him languishing in a rural area in the country with virtually no access to any kind of help. Then came The Dozen. Our son spent 2 years with The Dozen doing daily ABA. He did in-home and also did center-based ABA when the brick-and-mortar location opened. In my vain attempt at trying to describe the remarkable positive effect The Dozen had on our son, it bankrupts the English language to try to find the words. This place caused a 180 in our son. Our son can now do all the things we used to only hope he could one day do. He can tell us what is wrong, he can express his emotions. Our son even writes his own mini-books and reads up a storm. Does our son still have moments where he gets very upset or angry? Yes. We all do. But The Dozen, with the help of his parents, taught him how to recognize and control his emotions. The people working at The Dozen are the most kind, understanding people we have ever dealt with. They KNOW what parents go through with autistic children, and they empathize with them. Their kindness is only surpassed by their expertise in their respective fields. Their method of combining therapy into seemingly playful activities is truly a sight to see, and our son loved it. Bottom line is this: The Dozen changed our son's entire life, and because of them, he will no doubt live a productive and fruitful life. Dr. Deric, Miss Katie, Miss Lindsey, and the whole crew are the most amazing people for our son to work with. I am not really one for religion or spirituality, but if guardian angels are real, they work at The Dozen; they have changed the course of our son's life and changed all our hearts too.

My son had worked with Lindsey for some time before Deric came along and I must say Deric was the game changer. He is incredible in the services he provides not only to his clients but to their families. Every step and milestone my son met was accomplished due to the support, patience, and teamwork from Lindsey and Deric. We are a military family and I truly appreciated the way that Lindsey and Deric took my husbands demanding service into consideration when developing strategies for my son. I felt very included with my sons care, which was important to me. I was always made aware of what actions were taken and what plans were being made to ensure his progress. When it was time for my son to transition out of care Deric was very helpful and understanding with my concerns and fears for what lay ahead. My son has moved on from care and is thriving thanks to all the care, knowledge, and therapy provided by Lindsey and Deric. I am forever grateful to the excellent care and services provide to my son.

I consider myself a success story. I started my ABA therapy when I was very young and I really enjoyed the play therapy with Lindsey. Sometimes it was difficult for me but Lindsey was always kind and patient with me. I did not like when we had to meet with my BCBA because they didn’t really care about me or my circumstances, until Deric. Deric would listen to what I wanted to say, and work with me. I didn’t feel like an exhibit in a zoo with Deric, I didn’t dread our meetings. I finally felt completely safe and cared for, and was finally able to make real progress. I am now in high school and I still have some tics and sensory overloads but thanks to Deric and Lindsey I am able to process and overcome them. 10 out of 10, would recommend!
