I'm going to use your review as an opportunity for 'continuing ed.' for folks calling or coming in for a quote. To us, an estimate is a 'courtesy' afforded to a prospective customer. It is free to the customer but not for the shop. In our experience an estimate can turn out to be a waste of time. The caller takes our estimate and shops it all over town looking for the best price. We may never see or hear from that person again. You have to try to keep that out of the back of your mind each time the phone rings and a customer asks for a quote. Yesterday when you came in you were quoted $800 plus parts for rebuilding the rear end in your 2000 Mustang GT. You, however, wanted Rick to list every part that might be needed and everything that could be wrong. In my shop, or anyone else's, an estimate is, by it's very nature a 'best guess', based on the estimator's experience. Rick attempted to help you with the 'what if' scenario and told you the job could cost between $2K and $3K. You also mentioned you wanted to boost the horsepower in your Mustang. That will make a difference in what 'OEM' parts you will, or can use.This is unfair review. We didn't deserve a 2 star review based on anestimate you didn't like.
