The Phoenician

My sister and I stopped in at The Phoenician after a day of power shopping. We had both driven by several times and had always wanted to stop in.
Let me just say that the exterior of the restaurant does not even hint at the lushness of the interior. We were actually a little embarrassed to be dressed like street urchins going into such a nice dining establishment. Everything from the silk draping from the ceiling and the hookas on the wall to the aroma of well prepared food made us sorry we hadn't stopped in sooner. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable as well as prompt.
We were not disappointed. When we sat down, we were brought fried pita bread and regular pita bread with yoghurt and kalamata olive. For starters we had Falafel (it was flavorful and had a bit of a bite) and Cous Cous (fresh and yummy), then we split an entre, The Lebanese Half Chicken, the potatoes were overdone but the chicken was tender and juicy and had wonderful spices. For dessert we split a strange concoction of honey and ground pistachios over some sort of odd gelatinous stuff... It was different, not bad, but different. I would probably go something else next time though.
There was one appetizer on the menu that was a bit of everything that had a $49 price tag on it, but we got two apps, one entre, one dessert, two non-alcoholic bevs and two orders of pita with yoghurt sauce for $42.00. I don't think that was out of line for the quality and quantity of food that we received.
We will definitely be going back.
