I am not writing this to be spiteful but to give my experience. Which overall, was not a good one. and in hindsight, there were flags that I should've paid attention to. I hired this office to represent me against Merlex Auto on them selling me a vehicle that they labelled as perfectly working, which it wasn't. One flag that was raised, was John requesting HALF of the judgment after paying him nearly 3000 dollars to get started. It's customary for lawyers to request a third but John wanted half. it caused me back away from the representation and to use said money on fixing my car but he assured me that he saw a few flags in the case that gave him a good feeling. from then to the day of representation, their were numerous times that I had to resend papers that were already sent, buy a carfax with my money (which was misplaced), and on the day of representation, In mediation, it felt like the joke was on me and I was the only person in the room that was just finding out. At times, i felt the lawyers were too familiar with each other. my lawyer was aggressive with questioning, when he should've been. he refused to ask questions to the other party which I raised. For him to be the lead lawyer of the practice, I definitely expected more from him that day. often, during the mediation I asked myself "why didn't you just use this money to fix the car?", it was money down the drain that i could've seriously used in the situation. Afterwards, I can remember vividly standing in the lobby with Mr. Gayle as he acknowledged that things didn't go so well and saying " I wish I would caught that disclaimer earlier..." and 10 seconds later asking, "do you want to pay me now the remaining 200-300 dollars for me traveling here?" I was so angry driving home that night... this costed me money, energy, and time. i felt like such a fool for paying someone to represent me like this. This was my experience.
