We used to eat here quite frequently, but haven’t been in a while. We stopped in today for a quick bite to go and probably won’t be back for a while. The staff were nice. Helped us with ordering the best values which we sincerely appreciated. We were told that Cole slaw could be served on the bbq or on the side, but not as a side dish because they had a big batch just go bad on them so they were short. Not a big deal for us because we didn’t want it anyway, but not very appetizing to hear that something went bad when you are ordering food. We ordered NC bbq sandwiches, potato salad, beans, hush puppies and Mac and cheese. While we were waiting for our order, we got sauce to go in the little cups. The vinegar based sauce was what we like, so as I was squirting some into the cup it splattered everywhere....all over the counter and all over me. Now, I love the smell of vinegar, but was very thankful we were going straight home because it is not my fragrance of choice to wear. Perhaps maybe cut the hole in the bottle a little bit bigger?? Our food was ready in about 10 minutes. Again, staff was very friendly as we left. THEN WE GOT HOME AND OPENED OUR FOOD..... While the BBQ sandwiches were amazingly good and full of meat. The beans were delicious. That is where the compliments end. The Mac and cheese was cold and gelatinous. It tasted like a cheap microwave meal that had sat for a few hours and then reheated. The potato salad was actually kind of disturbing. The potatoes were over cooked and it was may based, but was chunky...almost the texture of cottage cheese. I ate about half of it and decided it also tasted a bit sour, so I stopped and threw it away. The hush puppies were burnt to a crisp. Literally, they were almost black. The insides were gooey and sticky. They were inedible. Seeing as how we both got these as one of our sides and also got a $5 separate side, it was quite a disappointment. About 30 minutes after we finished, I started feeling very sick. I was 100% fine before I took the first bite of the odd potato salad and inedible hush puppies. It is concerning. We spent over $40 here for dinner and couldn’t eat most of what we got. So it begs the question...is the bbq and beans enough to go back? After feeling sick after eating, probably no.
