I understand why this company has a horrible rating. Just spoke to an on call person, one of the most rude, unprofessional, ignorant people I've ever dealt with.
My mother is 100% dependent, just got her straight for the night, pushed the button to sit her up, heard a loud pop, plastic pieces flew and the head of the bed fell quickly backwards. The bed will no longer work. I told the AHP rep. the bed broke and what happened, he said "what do you mean broke? Did the driveshaft break?" I said, "what I just told you". He proceeds to say rudely.. "I don't know what you mean!", then goes on to tell me there's nothing that can be done tonight, probably not until the first of the week!
Please, if you can, find somewhere more professional to get your supplies.
The sad part is this person isn't the first rude encounter with an American Homepatient employee.

Been a patient of theirs for four years. The first two years I was able to call the office and speak to someone. This year they dont even answer their phones. I get an answering service who cant provide answers I need. They always promise a call back but I never receive one. I took my portable oxygen concentrator in for repair on May 6, 2022 and havent seen it since. When I ask for an update I dont get one. I will now contact the Office of the Virginia Attorney General. In the meantime Ill ask my physician to refer me to a different durable medical equipment company.

Do not use this provider. If I could give a -5 rating I would. I have been trying since August to get service and after 4 phone calls I initiated I was repeatedly told I would get a call back. I was never called back and got the same excuse every time. Today I made a 5th phone call to get in only to be told the same excuse and " I would get a call back." The representative was extremely rude and hung up on me. This provider does not care about the health of the patients referred to them or they would refer patients to another provider if they cannot serve them. Instead they make excuses and when questioned are rude and disrespectful. Save yourself the time, worry and toll on your health. Ask your doctor to send you to another medical equipment provider, even if you have to travel or purchase online. Extremely poor customer service has no excuse.

Very disappointed in this co. The service was dismal, staff at both local & corporate offices were unprofessional and flippant in their tone. Local competition is desperately needed by a co who believes in providing quality product, in a timely manner and with a professional staff behind it.
