Primland Resort is a gem hidden in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southern Virginia. It is 12,000 acres of pleasure. You have about five different restaurants on property to eat from. All the food we had was delicious. Our room was spacious, modern and nicely decorated. Everyone was warm and friendly. We took part in horseback riding and UTV outing. Both were a blast! If you have a chance be sure to visit this resort.

Recently stayed for a long weekend at the Sparrow West Cottage. The cottage was nice, but a bit small with no area to store clothes and luggage. We enjoyed several activities including gold, sporting clays and ATV rides, all were great and the staff was wonderful. Found the fitness center to be very disappointing, one treadmill not working, no TV. Was not stocked with towels and water. The lodge is beautiful and over all the property is fantastic. Our primary reason for the "3 star" rating is the food. It was not even close to meeting expectations for a resort. The cost aside (and it was expensive) the menu is extremely limited and the food is bland with no imagination. The steak we ordered was cooked to the wrong temperature and the soup was cold. The "grill" at the outdoor activity center is really not a viable option either unless you are interested in a $20 pulled pork sandwich, that was not microwaved enough. This would be a clear 5 star rating with even marginal food, but the best meal we ended up having was a breakfast at nearby Boyd's restaurant.

The setting, atmosphere, activities, service, food - everything was perfect. The most serene getaway I've experienced in quite a while. Although the resort was fully booked, it felt like you were the only ones there. Absolutely wonderful.
