One star is being very generous. Doctor was nice but my issue isnt really with the doctors although it wasnt even the greatest service Ive ever received. My REAL issue is with the BILLING department. She (1 woman operation apparently) claims to have sent my bill for my visit to my address but my address got rejected and instead of doing what any normal person would do when that happens, such as call or leave an email, she continued to send mail that continued to get rejected. Therefore, I had no way of knowing how much my bill was and that I had an outstanding balance to pay after however much insurance covered. So almost A YEAR later my bill got sent to collections. Now I have to pay the bill, the accumulated interest, and the attorneys fee all because the woman in billing cannot leave a 10 second voicemail stating I have an outstanding bill that needed to be paid. This woman also claims to be a 1 woman department with 40,000 patients. A 1 woman department in Fredericksburg/Spotsy?? GET REAL!! I find that very hard to believe and this woman along with the practice as a whole is running a scam without a doubt. Happy to pay the bill but how can I pay it if they dont tell me? Woman in the billing department you are the mastermind behind this terrible operation. You are lazy, rude, and scamming people in what is already an expensive world we live in. She sounds bitter (because she is) about getting the same call 40,000 times a day for all her 40,000 patients whose addresses have been conveniently getting rejected so she can continue to scam people.

These doctors are horrible. For my first pregnancy I had Dr.Smith who just rushed through every appointment. When I got pregnant for the second time, he denied ever being my doctor. How do u deny that when I have pics of you with my baby after delivery?! But I thought, ok that's fine..I'll go with someone else. I got Dr.Pyatek for my second pregnancy. I had an IUD at that time that moved out of place and was told I had a 70% chance of losing the baby if it wasn't removed, but I was told he couldn't remove it. So I ended up going to the ER and it was removed with no problem! Dr. Pyatek had absolutely no personality and was always tired from working at the hospital and then coming to the office for appointments afterwards. It was really bad when he REFUSED to visit me in the HOSPITAL HE WORKS IN (Mary Washington) about a month after performing my C-section and tubal litigation that landed me in the hospital for 12 DAYS because it got infected! All the other doctors were puzzled as to why he never visited his patient in the hospital after he botched the surgery! Let's fast forward...I ended up pregnant again after the alleged tubal litigation and due to insurance I was limited to where I could go. I never wanted to see Dr. Smith or Dr.Pyatek again so I ended up with a female doctor. I only saw her maybe twice so I can't remember her name but the first thing she offered was an abortion. I opted to see how things would go even though it was very unexpected since I believed my tubes were tied less than two years earlier, but this unexpected pregnancy resulted in miscarriage. I was not treated with any type of sympathy or care for someone who was experiencing a loss. I'll go without a doctor before I ever set foot in this place again!

I've been a patient here for about 5-6 years now and I recommend them. I see Dr. Shuman as my primary doctor, but am sometimes scheduled with Dr. Bhat for more last-minute scheduling needs. I've always loved Dr. Shuman; our personalities mesh very well together. I love Val, the ultrasound tech, who is currently out for an extender period of time due to surgery. Juanita in the reception area is also very nice. And the nurses, especially April, who's had much on her plate due to me with hyperemesis gravidarum lately, Makayla, who went out of her way to help me with an insurance thing and when we found out some great news, she called me to inform me and was so genuinely happy for me! And some of the other nurses who don't seem to be there anymore since I had my first child about 4 years ago, were wonderful. All of my regular care here has always been exactly what it should be. I come with a list of questions ready and my providers always take the time to answer my questions. The only less-than stellar experiences I've ever had here were with a doctor who I don't think is there anymore and I don't quite remember his name, who I saw for mid-cycle uterine pain and he questioned whether it was "just gas;" I know the difference between those organs and how they feel, though I imagine that's hard for a male without a uterus to imagine the feeling of, and Dr. Pyatak, ONLY in that he was the one on call when I went into labor and had a C-section and I barely saw anything of him that day; it's almost like he wasn't there lol. But the anesthesiologist and nurses were more involved that day. Most people don't seem to quite understand the time demands on doctors these days; they have TONS of patients to see and it's just a fact that you don't see them as much as you see the nurse. It doesn't mean it's bad care. Also, I've only had two appointments (out of dozens over the years with prenatal and normal women's care) that were long waits. It happens sometimes. Sometimes patients before you come in and have a great deal going on unexpectedly and the doctor has to take longer than expected with them. One time my doctor was caught up at the hospital with a surgery as she was both on call there and at the practice and she couldn't help it. I'm sorry to hear some of the experiences others have had on here. I've always had a good experience with my usual providers at this practice. I highly recommend Dr. Shuman, but I do know she's leaving at some point in the not-too-distant future, so I'm not sure she's taking new patients. Patients can also, I THINK right now expect them to refer you out for ultrasounds as the ultrasound tech is out for a few months, I believe, and I don't know whether they have a temp. tl;dr: I've almost always had a good experience and good care at this place, out of dozens of appointments over more than 5 years.

Had some mixed feelings about this place. Pros: I felt like the doctors that I saw were knowledgeable and made the right call with things during my pregnancy. I had a healthy and safe pregnancy and birth. They honored my concerns and questions and I felt I was really listened to. Cons: The ultrasound technician is horrific and unprofessional. Left the name of the patient before me up on the screen and then told me that there was a baby scare before me and discussed this patients pregnancy issue - talk about a HIPAA violation. She also went on to discuss stillbirths and miscarriages with patients with COVID right when the ultrasound wand was right on me (I had Covid during my second trimester and was due any day of the ultrasound) She had terrible bedside manners, was extremely sarcastic. There is also a medical assistant I had several times there, that couldnt take blood pressure to save her life - she had the cuff way up high and said my blood pressure was high when I never had that issue before. She was forgetful and all over the place. She also would rub my pregnant belly when doing the heartbeat and it was very weird. She would rub her hand very low almost to my pubic bone and talk about how cute my belly was. It wasnt cute what she was doing it was uncomfortable and I felt violated. She did this at several visits. I also hear the nurses at the nurses station talk loudly on the phone with test results and discussing other patients - this place is a HIPAA nightmare. The bathrooms and rooms are always filthy. And the wait time is insane. They also dont do appointment reminders. This place just seems lackadaisical.
