This office has turned around tremendously. When I walked in the energy was great. Beverly & Shecura was a great help with my insurance. I was called to the back within 5 min by Jayla who was very attentive. Jayla & Amanda NP were very pleasant & thorough. Amanda was very knowledgeable about some of the things I have going on. Thank you ladies for all you do!

Edit: I've since learned what has been causing the health issue that brought me into this office, and the medication Amanda Ryan tried to prescribe would've landed me in the hospital with potentially serious complications. I wisely DID NOT fill it, both my decision and on the advice of the manager with whom I spoke. This was dangerous and sloppy on Amanda Ryan's part. I shudder to think what would've happened had I taken the prescribed medication. It's obviously not within my power, but she needs to face some sort of formal reprimand for this. *End edit* I'm leaving this review in hopes it'll help someone else avoid the demoralizing experience I had here yesterday with Amanda Ryan. I'm normally a patient of Dr. Madren's next door but as I needed an appointment ASAP, they informed me that this office had a doctor who was willing to see his patients. I previously had a great visit so I had no issues being seen here. The women at the front desk were absolutely lovely, as was the nurse who took vitals. I appreciated this because I still have some anxiety over seeing new doctors. When Amanda Ryan came in, she was obviously inconvenienced from the word go. She refused to thoroughly listen to me, was terse, and refused to look at me when she spoke except for a scant few instances. When the nurse came in for a test, I was holding back to urge to ask the her if Amanda Ryan was always so rude, but didn't because I felt that might be uncomfortable for her. When Amanda Ryan came back in, that's when she crossed the line. She decided on a medication and was explaining how to take it in the most patronizing and condescending way. She spoke slowly and clearly with absurd hand gestures, the exact same way you speak to a toddler. When I asked about side effects she repeated what the medication will do, as in the ACTUAL effects. I asked again, what potential SIDE EFFECTS should I be aware of, she patronized me yet again by repeating the EFFECTS word for word, but slower. I started to get pretty angry at this point and asked once more but changed my phrasing to say what ADVERSE effects, again, the same thing. I've had serious reactions to several new medications that's included anaphylaxis so I want to be informed of any potential issues. I'm an intelligent 40 year old woman, who also happens to be on the spectrum. I've been treated this way before because of that so I recognized this for what it was. She treated me with contempt and had obviously made her judgment from the start. I walked out shaking and fighting more tears, saying I'm autistic, not a child. Thankfully, the women at the front desk noticed and asked what's wrong. They went to get the manager straight away. They showed more compassion in that split second than Amanda Ryan did throughout my entire appointment. The manager was amazing and I felt like she took me very seriously. She was proactive and went above and beyond in offering to make this right, for which I'm grateful. I'm leaving this review in hopes that others can avoid the same humiliating experience. Also, if this how Amanda Ryan treats neurodivergent patients, then she should ABSOLUTELY refrain from offering to treat patients from an autism specialist.

FIND A DIFFERENT PROVIDER! I see I'm not the first to leave a review that the service here has changed drastically. I used to see Dr. Espino who was wonderful, when she left I received a letter that Dr. Padiyar was my new physician. I never went in to see her because I had no need. When I did need a refill to my script they told me they could not refill it unless I came in, in person. It is depression medication which you don't just stop and I went the weekend without it causing a massive headache and dizziness but still had to drive to my appointment. The doctor treated me like a second class citizen when I went in to see her. I just ran out of the refills for that medication and since I had just seen them 3 months prior assumed it was just the matter of a phone call but they told me because I didn't have a new PCP that they couldn't help me. I explained I had received a letter stating who my new PCP was but couldn't remember the name. The receptionist was very rude and I feel like if I hadn't said it was dangerous for me to go cold turkey on my depression medication she might not have helped me. I was scolded that I was told to get a new PCP, I repeated that I had a received a letter, they said they had no record and I needed to establish a new PCP or they would not be able to refill the script again. Completely unkind, unprofessional and puts depression patients in danger. Again, FIND ANOTHER PCP.

Dr. Mayfield was wonderful. I wish she was at the Hague Center or much closer than Greenbrier area.
