I opened my solo law practice in 2010 and waited 6 months - white knuckling it - before I hired my first accountant. Things were fine until my business began to grow rapidly (almost right away!) last year (2013) I began to have some difficulties with my original choice of CPA. I had to cut them loose - RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF TAX SEASON! Not something I would recommend to anyone. I called Christina Monfalcone just as I was making these decisions and she helped walk me through the transition, calming my anxieties about the soundness of my records and other issues and ensuring a smooth transition. She personally - and her staff - have done a great deal to settle my rattled nerves. Like most businesses, accounting is at the very core of my decision making.
