He has been my dads dentist forever. Now he is mine forever. I went to smiles and feel they ripped me off by just replacing all my old cavities saying they were new.this guy is honest and I will never go back to anyone else

Review Feb 4, 2016Dr. Bertman is great.  Unfortunately I've needed a bit of dental work in my life and his work seems top notch.  He is thorough, he is wonderful at administering the anesthetic agent and doesn't recommend anything more than you need.  His bedside manner couldn't be better and his appts start on time.  His fee schedule seems reasonable as well.  His hygienist is top notch - best cleaning I've ever had. He was on the Washingtonian list of top dentists (could still be on but I don't know as I don't read that publication anymore) and deserves to be. Review Jun 22, 2020I'm augmenting my review somewhat guiltily. I've been going to Dr. Bertman for years but because he's just a little farther away than I would like (and I really needed a cleaning), I thought I would try a dentist very close to my home w/wonderful reviews. Indeed the office was great. Everything was state of art - the facility looked brand new,  office very nicely equipped w/nice furniture, art on the wall, even the smocks looked like something I would see in an OR (and their equipment looked very  brand new/high tech as well) but I had to admit I felt a little bit of trepidation. I couldn't help but feel someone needs to pay for all this.  I do have dental insurance but let's face it, it barely covers anything and I need ALOT of work (I'm a chronic grinder and I can't seem to break myself of the habit).  I leave the office w/a breakdown of my potential fees and holy moly, the fees were high. Who knew a crown could cost so much.I guilty contacted Dr. Bertman's office and they responded w/in 1/2 hour  -saying "don't worry, we get it, it's tempting to go to a dentist closer to your home" and here's our charge which was 1/2 of what this other dentist was going to charge. Dr. Bertman doesn't nickel and dime you. I was doing some research on the rationale for the high fees and various dental practices have various fee schedules.  Dr. Bertman does NOT charge you for the filling on top of the crown and his other fees are simply less.  As mentioned before his work is exemplary, he's a fabulous dentist w/great bedside manners. His office is not as fancy as others by any means but thank goodness because I don't want to pay for all the  overhead that some fancier practices are carrying (and then passing on to me).  I don't know why I was so lazy and felt I needed to try a dentist closer to my home.  Lesson learned and I won't stray again.
