I am lying in ER as I write this. There is no call button. I have never in my entire life been in any ER or even a clinic restroom without some way to call a nurse! I have no idea what the plan is for my care. I have to pee and I don't feel all too stable on my feet. I can't quite reach the lever to drop the bedrail but will try to find it. The commode still has urine from hours ago. I have seen doctors perhaps 3 or maybe 4 times in 27 hours. I was just told they check me every 30 minutes. It's the first I have been able to catch a human without shouting into the hall. My mouth is bruised from a seizure. Worse than the bruise is the indignity of having to do this. I don't want to live this kind of life, disrespectful of others. To their credit, the hospital is familiar with what kosher food is and attempts to be accommodating. Don't come here. It's not really safe when there are no call lights. In some situations it could end in serious injury.

I had an issue with anesthesia at another hospital. Eileen at Gifford arranged pre-evaluation for surgery at Gifford the same week. Wonderful patient care!

They're incredibly lazy and uninterested in helping. I went to the ER after weeks of being unable to sleep or function properly at work due to swollen + incredibly itchy + red hands and feet. ER doctor refused to do blood tests and sent me home with prednisone (which did virtually nothing). Turns out it was organ malfunction, which is not only much more serious than allergies (his guess, but again, wouldn't do any tests), but also something a blood test at the ER could've diagnosed. Wasted my time and money because he didn't feel like working. Had the same experience again when my partner went in for serious cardiac concerns, immobilized and heart rate alone enough for a diagnosis. No doctor saw him, even in 5h, just a nurse who claimed his worsening symptoms (which he's had for a year) were the result of "long covid" (which he had a month ago). Lazy answers from people who clearly don't want to do the work to properly diagnose and treat patients. Not only that, but this nurse claimed it wasn't possible to tell us what is and isn't covered my his Medicaid insurance (even though hospitals can, in fact, tell you that) before doing tests, and said nurse was also filling in for the MIA receptionist so there was no one to answer questions.
