They gave me the run around from the beginning. Said I could pay the $105 by the time my 3 weeks were up. Said they would work with my schedule given my husband works 12 hour graves (school starts as he's getting off work) I busted my butt for a week in class and today I was suppose to go get my permit. But instead they pulled me in and confronted me about my attendance which they were already aware of before I started. Said they can't "carry" me till the end of the 3 weeks. Called me a liar about my job when I quit my job to be THERE! Also said I was lying about the payment plan for the $105. Finally one of the ladies spoke up about telling me that 15 min into the argument. It's funny all this came up today when yesterday they said everything was running smoothly and to just hang in there cuz I felt like I was waiting my time if I wasn't gonna be able to stay anyways. Then this morning they slapped me with they "need the 105$ by Monday and another 400$ by next Friday". They also told me if I got thru the week and no funding worked out that tuition was free! Now today they've changed the story again.. They give you the run around till you're locked in and responsible for the entire tuition then think they're gonna give you the boot and people are still gonna pay for education you didn't receive. Not to mention one of the instructors treated me and another guy like crap! He quit, I decided to stick it out. But I don't appreciate being treated differently because I'm a female! NOT OK! This school is a joke and poorly ran! I do not recommend going to school here at all.

OK I'm going to be as biased as possible here because a rewiew isn't worth anything unless it's fair.so here it goes .the dws here in Utah was fabulous in helping me out with funding so in my search and past dealings with Cameron at Roadmaster that's who I chose .BTW Out of all the pompas better than thou godly attitudes I encountered there Cameron by far was the most genial and most professional employee there .he answered any questions before I signed any paperwork .thought I was getting a square deal ,seeing as they have a local newscaster that supposedly looks out for shady businesses, that rips consumers of .ha! Kinda gives you a false sense of security .so fast forward to that Monday first employee was a smallish kinda man with kinda feminine features ,that for the first hour of his "speech " seemed like to me to be all about himself and his exercise routine he does every night,so finally when we were able to get a word in edge wise I apparently angered him when I ask about what kind of companies they could help us out with. Apparently there are only two options at Roadmaster ...Werner and ....Werner .Don't even think about any local stuff .after that apparently and this is The head of Roadmaster Salt Lake City, Started calling me "officer" ,which I guess he thought since I got a grant from the state the gave me special powers or something ,and as many times as I heard him state he's been and executive for over 20 years in the trucking industry,I was taken aback by his behaviour .OK so after break and I understand that most truck driving schools operate on a razor thin margin but my god give the instructors the proper tools .first off the cdl manual was from 2005? The official Roadmaster training manual has pictures of parts that you have to identify in you pre trip which is part of your test, not even close to what they are calling it ,OK then there so called Etreads computer learning module is OK outdated but OK .the other videos not so much .As far as the first week in the classroom goes, good luck on instruction which is Zero ,and if you act like you know anything at all .your labeled and the treatment is different ,god forbid if you break out your cell phone which is a big no-no there but OK in between naps for the instructor at the back of the classroom .OK so I'm over the classroom thing I would probably have the same attitude trying to use outdated material my company wants to use .anyway moving forward ,test day for the written part cdl,go down to the dld, find out I need a k restriction and its gonna take a week in the mail so I call Roadmaster explain ...situation thinking hey maybe they would know proper and possibly quicker way to achieve required paperwork ,the answer : What is a K restriction? And I quote" Do you think we have that kinda paperwork laying around here"then to finally "well come back when you get it done."OK two problems here ,first am I the only one ever to go thru Roadmaster needing a k restriction?second is there not any kind of training there employees get?I am not going to go into the second week I don't have the time .nor the patience .But lets recap and I'm done Don't go there Don't go there and finally don't go there . I have a paper trail and other forms of proof to substantiate my claims .this by far is the biggest waste of time and money in my opinion ,BTW what are the doing with the five grand per student plus interest ?its not maintaining the three POS THEY HAVE ROLLING AROUND out back ,certainly not in the out dated and useless training material or instruction you recieve.it's probably lining someone's pocket that's my opinion of course.final note .I am shocked and appalled at the way this company is being managed, and as a small business owner myself ,I would fire each and everyone in the front office ,no questions asked wait except,Cameron.the judge the instructors on there merits I see a lot of good there i do ,but when you have a bad management style your employees pickup your attitudes and habits ...wow that's a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen

I started out very excited to be there. I had a great instructor (Beau). He was very patient with new drivers, and had a great sense of humor. I also got to work with other instructors such as Nick and Mike. Both of which were similar to Beau. Calm, patient and had a good sense of humor. They all knew how to teach effectively, but in different ways. One of the problems I encountered, as well as other students (We had long conversations about this) is that there doesn't seem to be much agreement between the instructors on certain things. For example filling out log books. People would fill our their log books the way they were taught by their assigned instructor, but if another instructor checked their log, it wasn't correct to their standard. There is one individual there that really soured the experience for myself and other students (One other student in particular that I know of). An instructor by the name of Jeff. He is (either former or currently) a D.O.T. officer. He takes himself entirely too seriously. I didn't have much interaction with him, but almost every interaction I had was negative. He made subtle hints about arresting me, saying things like "You're lucky I'm not in uniform right now." Over petty things, which as a new driver I didn't know. So instead of correcting and teaching, he threatens and berates. He seems to think he's a one-man regulatory commission, here to save the truck driving industry one student at a time. Jeff is easy to find. He's about 6' 6", looks like he's wearing a tire around his waist, and looks kind of Iike Jesus, if Jesus were from a trailer park. They taught us all on eight speed transmissions (or 13 speeds, driven as an eight). They did have one 10 speed. My instructor made a point to make sure we knew how to drive both. I'm glad he did, because to someone who has never driven rigs like this before, they're totally different. To a veteran, the differences might be more subtle, but to a new person, the differences can be insurmountable. Some weren't as lucky as myself. One individual was never taught the 10 speed, but was assigned it for their final road test. They failed their road test because of that fact alone. (the test was administered by the great and power Jeff) A little consistency in the curriculum would be nice; if a piece of equipment is testable, it should be trained on. fortunately this person was able to re-test and passed with a good score in an eight-speed, which he trained in the entire time. I'm sure there are worse schools out there. In summary, the instructors here are fantastic overall. They actually seem like they care about your success. They're patient, and take one-on-one time when needed. There is one individual there that needs to be fired however; we go to their school to learn, not to be intimidated and threatened. This individual's demeanor might be in the realm of professional for a police officer, but it is far from professional for an instructor or teacher. I think they need to re-evaluate their curriculum. As I said, one instructor might have one opinion about log books, but another instructor might have a completely different idea. Also, if a piece of equipment is testable, it should be required to be taught. Period. It's unfair to train entirely in one thing, then be tested in something different; you can't teach someone to ride a Harley, then give them a road test on a bullet bike. While most of the principles are the same, there are dramatic differences, especially to someone new to it.
